M271 Supercharger baffled resonator / intake Muffler
The big black box infront of the motor.... Does anyone sell a MB quick connect to bypass/remove it. Or is everyone just getting some tubing and some hose clamps?
Thanks
Thanks
I'm pretty sure that's the intake he's taking about. I'm pretty sure the SC muffler is attached to the plenum on the SC like it is on the M111.
The black box in front of the motor is a silencer for the supercharger. I took it off and it is perforated inside like a muffler. I also started it up and you can actually hear the whine of the charger. Now a large radiator hose will work with two hose clamps. The only other issue is the Crank breather. It will have to have a k&n small breather put on it. That will also help with the oil getting into the intake.
I will get you guys some photos. But if you look in front of the motor between the motor and the radiator, it goes from the supercharger/intake to the intercooler. It is at an angle ... You can not miss it. It is about a foot and a half by 6 inches. I am shocked no one has talked about this before.... I hope this helps... But I will get photos during the day.

It is a muffler and there is a muffled intake also. I doubt that there would be very much if any gain by removing. It is straight through and well sized for the amount of flow. But hey give it a try. It would be pretty easy to do while on the dyno to see if there are any gains.
I believe your talking about the real supercharger muffler. One person on here removed his with a stainless pipe, but he had problem connecting his egr valve back to this pipe.
His car sounds like a 5L supercharged mustang, I think it sounded .... "different".... and it might be an acquired taste. Horsepower wise, you might see some gain by altering the boost map or on a dyno.
If you want more noise, remove the muffler and see for yourself. You might like it that way.

Ok, I ordered a 2.5 circumference by 24in hose and will be bypassing this box. I also remove the other muffler that was located in the supercharger intake. Should be louder, and no more turbulence created by all these baffles.
let us know how it goes when it's done. i'm interested to see what happens.
post a vid too so we can hear the sound difference. if you can hear the SC whine more than i'd want to do this too.
