Hey how about a study that concludes that an H2 Hummer costs more on gas annually than a Scion xb.

It doesn't work that way, you also must factor in the weight of the other vehicle. Most vehicles today though have the front bumper lower than the rear. The solution: make sure you don't rear-end anyone.
And don't tailgate! Do they still teach the 2-second rule to new drivers?
Nobody seems to do it anymore, and when you do leave a suitable gap, some jackass cuts you off and slips in.I'm surprised they haven't made those bumper height laws apply to trucks, minivans, or SUVs. They forgot to include one other major class of vehicle: semis!
Do you older drivers remember the days of steel chrome bumpers? You could drive into a wall at 10+km/h and have zero damage

The ruling was relaxed in the US around 1991. Some companies continued with the 5mph (VW, Audi, Volvo, BMW, Porsche all have 5mph) Mercedes does not for their US cars This is one of the reason why we can import US Benz's into Canada because the bumpers don't pass our standards and it costs too much to retro-fit them.
Shame on Mercedes, a company that boasts about safety
