Boost Gauge

Boost Gauge
Just installed a Boost gauge in a C230K, the car is running on the stock pulley; therefore, the gauge won't do a lot of telling. It will be very helpful if a pulley kit is install, because it can tell if anything goes wrong in the engine.

With normal driving, the boost only goes up to 5PSI, the 7.2PSI (0.5bar) only comes in after 5000rpm. (Sorry for the poorly picture, because I was driving while I was taking the picture)

If you dont have anything nice to say then please keep it to yourself. Eason only did it for the true enthusaist who are into these things. Good job Eason, at least I know what line you tapped and how much the stock pulley boosts.

I've looked at several boost gauges but I'm unhappy with the range as most are designed for Turbos got 30 psi and the ones that go to 20 psi take up part of the display with a vacuum guage. Does anyone know of a guage that is more 0-15 psi (or 0 to 1 bar), boost only?

I'm assuming that Hokus was just talking about Eason's temp. install of the gauge on the dash, at least that's my hope.
Please post pics when it's properly mounted on the a pillar, but looks good so far.
Think that a gauge would fit in the ashtray area, with some scoping of the rear area? I'd really like to find something to do with that area.

Eason, how easy was it to install? Are there extra grommets to run the wiring, or did you use one that was already being used?
That VDO gauge is damn ugly, ain't it? Oh, btw, for us lucky Orion Blue owners, Autometer's new Cobalt series would be pretty cool. Will prob. pick one up for myself as an early Xmas present. :p

Buell - that's still butt ugly.
I'm guessing that Autometer won't be making gauge pods for our a-pillars, so people are probably going to have to do their best with Frankensteining something together.

Even though you guys may think it's "ricey" I've always preferred Trust or HKS gauges; they just plain look better!

i wouldnt mind having a boost gauge, but i would want something that kept the look that it was already stock. i had an eclipse and the boost gauge was stock and built in the instrument cluster. my vw now i have a boost gauge and i like it. the company that made it did a good job of making a cluster that looks as if it were stock and it is placed on the dash, though they have cluster units for the a pillar as well. personally i dont think i would get a boost gauge for my new car. thats just me. they are helpful. yours looks cool and please do post pics if you mount it to the a pillar or something!

yes, i was talking about the fact that it looks terrible the way that its mounted, and that ricers get them all the time like that. if you are using it for pure performance purposes, then i can understand. So anyone who has a prob with that, why dont you keep YOUR yacks shut and mind your own business (esp you mercedes, you seem to have a real smart mouth). i am entitled to my own opinion on this thread, thank you very much!
