Help! Can't double-lock trunk on '05 C240
Longtime lurker here. Anyhow, let's cut right to the chase. My 2005 C class has never been able to have its trunk double-locked. This means that anyone that smashes the window can press the button on the driver's door panel that opens the trunk, and steal whatever's inside.
Meanwhile, my buddy's '03 C class is able to double lock manually. I took the car to the dealership to have it checked out, but they told me it was a new safety feature.
1) Are they bs-ing me? Am I the only one with this problem?
2) If they're not bs-ing me, is there any way to get this annoying safety feature... removed?
Cheers.

Hence the part 2) to the question, which asks what the rest of you all have done to your tumblers. Have you modded them?
nlpamg - thanks for the headsup to that thread. I didn't use the correct terms in my forum search.

why are you here if you have read your manual. if you have read your manual why are you asking the question? if you already know what you want to search for why start a thread?
this car has been around for 7 years. if you haven't figure out if there are safety feature that's in the manual and people don't talk about it then you should know there isn't a way around it. IF there is a way around it it's already up in the sticky "DIY/FAQ" thread in the main w203 section.

that's why the mods try to keep the number of senseless threads/topics that have already been discussed, cleaned up and down to a minimum- in order to cut down on all the crap you get when you do actually search. if they have success in cutting down on those type of threads- a search will only reveal the meat and potatoes- which is what you are after.
that's why they do it- and i applaud it. being a mod is a pretty thankless job.

I do find myself wondering sometimes why people start threads over insanely easy to find questions though ...
I am definitely no expert, but I like being able to tone in from time to time and answer a question .......
Hope you find your answer (cause i have no idea)
