I call bull****. REplace $12 hose, sure. Remove supercharger to replace the other two hoses? There's literaly zero pictures/videos of anyone ever doing this.

I tried this job a couple of weekends ago and its really not that bad. The ONLY thing that kept me from finishing was the damn clamp on the boot. I bought the tool I needed, but someone angled mine toward the firewall at an impossible angle for that tool. I'm going to have to get it to a shop and have them move the clamp to a spot where I can actually get to it. Just from looking, my hose was decent, but I could tell it was an older gen part number because of what the material was made out of. That and I found what looked like an oil leak on top of the "motor front" valve that's sandwiched by the motor and super charger. Really hoping it isn't the head gasket. :-(

This one shows the removal of the manifold, after which the SC and SC damper are just bolted onto the side of the engine block:

Looks like it to me.
The compressor is an external accessory, just like the PS pump or AC compressor. So other than the hose and sensor connections, and the serpentine belt, it's just mounting screws.
However I would suggest that you pick up some new gaskets to go between the compressor, muffler and feed tube. They are pretty inexpensive, and since I've never done this before I don't know if they would be reusable.
After I do my brakes this fall, I will be doing a water pump/coolant hoses/gaskets changeout, and then I think the kompressor will be next. At that time I plan to buy the breather hose kit and replace all those parts as well.
Fyi when you have the compressor off the car you should replace the snout oil. It's pretty inexpensive, and due to the location of the fill/drain plug you can't get the full 110ml into the snout in it's position while mounted on the car. When the compressor is off the car the oil change is trivial.

Also, if I saw my mechanic ripping apart my car like this I would be pissed.. I'm not a mechanic, but if you sit there and tug on parts like that, something is going to break. Learned my lesson working on my 2001 325i.

The only thing I would worry about is your last paragraph there.. the bolt to change the oil is supposed to be a major pain to get off (tight). If the SC is off the car it maybe hard to loosen that bolt properly. Loosen on the car and then remove the SC sounds like the way to go. Drain..etc.

Good to know.. Did the rubber gasket get damaged when it came off? i imagine a replacement bolt is fairly cheap.

No it didn't get damaged ... but I live in the San Francisco area so the weather is very moderate here. i honestly don't know how easy it would be to get one of these bolts. It's an Eaton M45/M65 compressor, but the snouts and fill bolts appear to be different over different years.

**updated DIY instructions for $12 and crankcase breather hoses**
For those looking to change out the $12 hose and the rest of the hose pieces and check valve and gaskets from the crankcase ventilation kit, here is an updated link. I started getting a mystery crankcase fume smell that wafted into the cabin when the car was stopped with the engine running. Turns out the check valve had disintegrated and was basically venting into the engine bay. In other words, I had to DIY the entire recall again.

Regarding this $12 hose... HOW in the world have you all gotten that far clip/clamp off? I cannot get it for the life of me. I am using a long flat head screwdriver. Should I use a thin and long phillips (+) head screwdriver? ....an angled end screwdriver? ...hose clamp remover tool?
This clamp at the far end is stuck... and so am I!
Thank you for the help! Hoping the C will run great after I swap this hose as I have already done cam magnets, pigtails, cleaned connectors, cleaned TB, and cleaned MAF... this little clamp is the last thing standing between me and the smoothest this car has run since I have purchased it! Any and all help will be so appreciated.

You need some long curved needle-nosed pliers if I remember.
AS far as all the stuff you cleaned and pigtails, ect. you messed up there... could have taken it to the dealer and had it all replaced under warranty for FREE!!!

The Clic-R hose clamps can be undone with a screwdriver (use a wider one and twist), and reclipped with a pair of end cutting pliers. Watch the video to understand how they work. Of course, there is no substitute for the proper tool.
The bottom 2 hoses can be reached with a pair of curved needle nose pliers, but they are stuck onto the nipples on the engine so tightly that it's almost impossible to remove and reinstall without the supercharger being removed first. I tried this personally and was unable to do so. There's a reason these 2 hoses don't require hose clamps.

It's a PITA to change with the supercharger still mounted in place, but it can be done.

You are correct, your car is long out of warranty.
There is a factory campaign on the leaking cam sensors that the dealer has to honor no matter how old the car is if the campaign has not been completed on that VIN.
There is a sticky thread on here called M271 drivers go to the dealer for free.
Check it out.
About 2 years ago with 100K miles on my car the dealer put a new ECU, Electronic throttle, harness, injectors, oil sensor, pigtails and a bunch of other stuff for free and gave me a free MB loner for the week that they had the car.
