Does the piece fit over the metal or under the metal? Meaning does the plastic sit on the outside of the hood metal or inside the hood metal towards the engine? When I tried installing the plastic lower trim piece, it was too wide and wouldn't fit properly .

Never had trouble installing mine......i will have to drill holes into the grill to fasten the L brackets. Here is a tip. Install the bottom fiberglasss piece first..then place the grill on. Fasten the bottom screws then the L brackets.......maybe that will help.... good luck.....good choice by the way with the expressions grill..its a pain to install but a beauty once you see it on! Best looking grill on the market!

StarWars, thanks for the pics that was exactly what I was looking for. Lucky for me, Jerry is local just minutes away from me. I like both combinations and either way both look great but for me I think I will want it to standout a little more, I'm going with the "custom" look and will order the silver.

Thanks again, this is a great help.

Make sure you paint the vertical slats black to give the grille a sleeker, sportier look. Maybe someone can do a quick photoshop to one of the silver grilles posted above to show how much better that will look.

Blake, I was thinking of very same thing. I already "photoshop'd" it and looks MUCH better without the silver vertical slats. The star seems to stick out at you more with the silver grill. Then again, like I stated above, either black or silver they both look good. I was going to use some vinyl stickers first to make sure I like it in person then maybe after a few days, have it painted for good. I'm hoping to pick one up from Jerry next few days and have it installed by the weekend, since he has the silver's one in stock.

Are you talking about the L bracket? If so, they're cheap. I just custom-made my own by using gluing a metal L bracket near the top where holes are present for the hood, and putting bolts through that.

Its actually the bottom fiberglass piece that I have trouble with. It does not want to fit. The holes seem to be misaligned. Can you take some pics of your grille installed with some closeups? Thanks

The grill looks great installed, but the quality and consistency of the product is iffy at best. Essentially, it a stock Mercedes grill, cut and modified to fit in conjunction with a fiberglass insert for the lower portion. Usually this insert fits rather well, but occassionally the mold used appears to be off. You should be able to get it swaped out for a new one, however I'm not sure about the costs to paint it.

Okay guys, I picked up the silver CL grille from Jerry last week. I was very impressed when I saw it and actually installed it that same night. The install was very easy as the mounts matched perfectly. What I didn't care for too much was the vertical slats, on the silver grille they were more visible and gave it a more "busy" look that I didn't care for.

So the solution was to have them blacked out so they blend more with the background and won't be seen. Painting would be a hassle and cost more money. So I tried using some black tape at first to see what the look would be like, I liked it much better. So my solution, I got some black rubber door edge trim and cut some out to fit right onto the vertical slats and the results are seen in the pics below. Much cleaner look in my opinion, what do you guys think. That solution was so easy and cheap, cost me $3 plus I have 1 1/2 door trim edging left.

Go with this grille, either black or silver, it's the best bang for the buck. Jerry just received some more black grilles and has the silvers as well.

Even better, silver CL grille from Jerry. I installed the black door trim guard to hide the vertical slats.

Nice! Try blacking out the vertical slats on the far left and right sides too. I think that would look great.

OK, question here concerning the grill.

The star inserts with a long point on the back of it. How does it attach? Glue?

Mine came assembled with the star already on. I think the star is stuck on with epoxy though.
