your car rocks. looks totally different. I think you should stay with the grill as is.

on the rims, you should get gun metal finish with chrome lip.

What color is your car?

Can you post pics of the grille as soon as you install it?

Thanks to Karlsbadkmprssr, now you see how black grilles would look on a white car.
IMO, black seems to be the better choice with a light color car. It brings out more contrast ....it matches the inside of the star & the bottom part of your car.

I think the black looks better. Brings out the white more and matches the lower grilles.

Leave the grill as is, grey--or paint it to match the car, but I would not paint it black. I think the black only looks good on a black car. my 2 cents.

Just Installed The Cl Grill!

Okay, I just installed the CL grill, the flat hood emblem and the extended hood latch that I received from Jerry at formymercedes.com and it looks great. However, I have a hard time opening my hood with the new grill on. The extend hood latch does not fully release the latch so I have to use needle nose pliers and pull what the hood latch is suppose to pull to open it. Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is it me? Are there any solutions to the problem? Anyways it works for now, but I can't leave it like that for long. Here are some before and after shots for anyone interested. Excuse the quality, they were taken by a camera phone.

C240-Merc: Are you sure you have the hood latch going through the right grille slat? My OEM one was too short and required some work to pull out, but the new one works perfectly.

Blake P, I appreciate the response. I believe I put it through the correct slat, but I will double check.

Mine work perfert too. When you pull the hood release latch from inside the car, the latch comes out like the stock one did.

I'm quickly learning that I'm in the minority when it comes to the CL grille. Everything else is nice, just the CL isnt my cup of tea.

Looks good C240-Merc !
I just read your PM's this morning, so I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond.
But I see you got it all installed, so that's a good thing.
As for the extended hood latch, the reason why it was extended in the first place, is because the OEM stock original would not protrude all the way through the CL-style grill. If installed correctly, it should stick out just the like the old one did with the original grill. Double-check that it's going through the correct slat (as mentioned above), and that it is not "upside down" maybe ? There's a small arrow engraved on the hood latch, and when installed properly, it should be visible from the top looking down.

Let me know if you have any difficulty, and if so, take pictures, so as to better help you.

Carlos

What do you mean by CLK grille and CL grille?? Any differences??

Isn't the CLK grille the one they install on C55s'?

I've seen pics of the 2006 CLK grille on C55s' (3 slats) and it looks a lot better than the 2005 CLK grille (4 slats), but installed on C55s'. Is any one in production of a newer version of the front grille for W203's containing three slats?

I agree with smoothoperator, if someone produces a three slat version of the front grille.....It might definitely look better...

Putting a CLK grille on a C requires custom body work to make it fit. The only person I've seen do it is SilvaC32. The mounting points and size are completely different, so as with anything it can be accomplished with enough time and money. Not worth it, in my opinion.

A three slat grille would look dumb on a C sedan because the grille opening on our cars is larger than CLK or C55. The slats would be spaced out too far.

However, I can't decide which one to get. There is the CL grille both with brilliant silver and another with black 6.5" star.
Then there's the sport grille (basically it looks like the OEM with a 5.5" star). Does anyone have a photo of their car with this grille on their C230 sport? I've seen several pictures on here with the CL grille on different models.

Thanks for your time! Your feedback is appreciated!

just sell ur car and go buy a CL if u want that CL grille, and if u want them S class tails, go buy a S
