why don't you sell your "not so AMG" and save up some money until you finish school buddy. Give it several years and maybe you can afford a real "AMG"

I agree, also. Not a big fan of the big star on the C Sedans

Although, I am considering color matching my front OEM grille.

Guys, I appreciate your help, but I am still experiencing the problem. The extended hood latch is installed and the arrow is facing up. The hood pops open, but the two latches on both sides of the hood do not release once I pull on the extended latch. I have to get a par of needle nose pliers to finish the job to pull a metal piece that the latch is trying to pull . There has to be an easier way around this. I will post pics later to show what it looks like under the hood. I am under the assumption that I am the only one that has this problem after the CL grill has been installed and that everyone else can open their hood without any problems.

New CL-Look Grille?

I have been thinking about installing a CL-look grille on my C230 SS. I really like the look of the CL-look grilles for the AMG C-Class but they don't have the same look on the C230. Nonetheless, I came across the following CL-look grille from German Auto Parts (GAP), which is different than most of the grilles I have seen. Does anyone have this grille installed?

1. CL-Style Grille / grill from ebay seller: assembleweb and 2. Flat hood emblem

1) THE GRILLE
Just wanted to know if anybody has bought this grille from this ebay seller. If so, please let me know how the grille looks, if it looks cheap or good quality, if it fits well, if it's discolored, peeling away, etc... Any information would be very helpful. Usually he has multiple listings of this item, but right now there's only one, and it's going to expire in 3 hours, hopefully the link still works:

seller: "assembleweb"
title: "01-05 MERCEDES BENZ C CLASS W203 SPORT CL GRILL GRILLE"
link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/01-05...spagenameZWDVW

if that link doesn't work, you can go to his seller's page and search for "mercedes", hopefully that will yield results:http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZassembleweb

2) THE EMBLEM
Also, anybody know where a good source for the flat hood emblem is these days? The one from formymercedes.com , or any ebay seller?

Thanks

Steve, thanks for the tip, I might actually end up buying "CL Style Grille for W203 C Class Sedans" from formymercedes.com , since I like the look, but just wondering if this one on ebay is any good.

It seems that at the dealership, the actual emblem is Mercedes OEM, with part number A638 817 0116 . But the dealerships around here sell a "kit",
which includes the emblem and hardware that holds it down on the hood, which apparently is not OEM. The kit goes for $50 to $60, depending on what dealer you go to.

The price sounds a little steep for me, especially when the dealers themselves are using a third party in their kit. Any other tips besides formymercedes.com ?

the CL grille is sort of played out and the only one that looks good is the real one made by expression. if you have an '05 then keep the same grille, if not then get the '05 grille.

I've got the black grill from ForMyMercedes.com and although it's well made, I wish they had one with out the MB Star. I just like the cleaner look.

I really prefer your stock grille. I just don't like the grille with a star in the middle

You should custom a grille like you want it. You know, lose the middle vertical slat and paint the grille the color of your car

Cool

I just thought I'd post a couple of quick tips about the flat hood badge holder from Jerry. The product is great...these few points might make installing a little more pleasant:

1. Place a thin rope of clay under the metal bracket before you push it into the indentation in the hood. It holds the bracket nicely until you screw on the bottom bracket, and it's cushions the metal bracket from contacting the paint without using silicon or something goopy. I use a little piece of Meguiar's clay bar and work it into a thin rope (about 1/8" thick). Just run it around the underside of the bracket where it contacts the hood.

2. If the fit is a little tight pushing the hood badge pins (there are two on the back of the OEM badge) down onto the bracket after it's installed, don't force it. Just take an exacto knike and scrape some of the crome plating off of the pins. They'll go on easier, and still have enough grip to hold the badge down snug.

Hope this wasn't too boring...It might help someone out.

I got my grille from Jerry on Saturday and put it on right away. 2 people asked me if I bought a new car. Seriously...that makes it worth it all.

there's a whole thread full of pictures back in 2003-2004 of all the different W203 sedan grills, expression, MP, stock, ForMyMercedes, customs, etc....

i'm not going to go digging for it, but it's in this forum, and just about everything else you can think of for your W203. Try the sticky threads up top.

CL style grille pic request

hi im looking to buy a WHITE 06 c230.

after looking at your cars, i've decided to go with the CL style grille (formymerc).

im debating between the BLACK cl style grille or WHITE cl style grille.
i think the black would give it a nice contrast, however i think the matching white may look clean.

if you guys had some pics of either of these grilles on a WHITE c230 that would be very helpful. thanks
