M271 2003-2005 C230 guys go to the dealer now free work/recall
Sorry I haven't been on in a while, discusted with MBC.
So in the end MBC reluctantly paid for 50% of parts and 0% labour for the replacement of our wiring harness, ECU, O2 sensors, and cam shaft seal repair... Ended up costing them about $2000 and me about $3700.
Dealing with the coolant leak issue now, my dealer reccomended I have a smaller shop replace my rad (savings of $600) then doubleflush the tranny. we did this and the hard shift did not go away but did not seem to get worse for quite some time. Mercedes solution was a new tranny & torque converter about $7500 installed and no forgiveness. Since that time we have used the car in winter mode but it is getting worse and soon will have to be dealt with, $4500 to have mine rebuilt or try to find a used unit for $1000 then pay the $960 for install is about the best I'm gonna do.... we bought the car less than a year ago for $12K with 65K km, since that time we have spent $4300 and will have to spend another $2000 if we want it to perform the way it should... it now has 85K km.
Mercedes is painfull to deal with, it seems because I have a C class and bought it used at that I am not important to them. My 1995 BMW 318ti I bought with 140K km, ran it up to 285K km over 3 years with just a break job, oil changes and a clutch slave cylinder plus the common power window issue BUT I drove that thing like a race car and not until 287K km did it lose compression on 1 cylinder so I sold it off with full disclosure.
I'm affraid to drive the mercedes as hard as the daughters saturn for fear it might explode.
my question is:
if there is a hose leak, would i be able to hear it?
basically when i accelerate... i hear this loud sucking noise that sounds like a leak somewhere. i'm not sure if this noise would indicate that i need this hose replaced, OR if its from another problem ("breather hose"? not sure what that is... but i found it somewhere else in a search)
anyone know how to diagnose it from my horrible description?
thanks!
EDIT: just called MB dealer and i did get this done... now i have to figure out what this noise is....

I'll report back if there were any issues and if there is any difference.
I was activating the traction control for a LONG time on a 1-2 shift... typically I don't ever do that or if I do it's very short (with a eurocharged tune). Engine note sounded slightly different as well (but maybe that's just me being insane).
Does this fix get you more power?
271-010-00-82-05
and
271-018-12-82
It sounds like most of the people that had the recall performed just had 271-010-00-82-05 with no mention of the other part number, which is also the case with my car, which had this done before I owned it.
Mine is an '05 as well. Does anyone know the reason why the other hose is mentioned in this post but not performed by the dealer recall?
Many thanks,
Bulldog..
I've had my CEL on since January and apparently it was because I had an oil leak coming from the faulty solenoid that was running along the wiring harness and into the O2 sensors. My SA was pretty cool and was able to hook me up with 2 brand new O2 sensor modules to be covered under the recall as long as i gave him a 10 on the customer satisfaction review
lucky me.The work done looks exactly like the pictures on ambit's post and the car is running much better now
Camshaft solenoid
Vent hoses
2(two) O2 sensors
2(two) bran new catalyst converters!
All at no charge!
i just bought me-self an 03 c230k sc...it has some major problems with almost everything in the car, after googling a 100 times i found out that the m271 is a piece of s*** engine. has anyone gotten any updates so i can tell the dealer?
