I am going in tomorrow to get the recall done. I hope that no other new problems arise. Right now I'm getting some surge at idle intermittently and I'm leaning towards it being the harness because I've already changed out the MAF, idler pulley, and airbox hose.

Brand new to the forum..learning about my 2003 c230k. This is an awesome site. I had a couple questions after reading the thread. I do realize that its pretty old. Both the thread and the car! I noticed the thread hasn't been updated since 08.. Main question: seeing as though the recall may have already been performed, (I did see someone say the hose was replaced 4 times) is this something that can can/will still be honored. Also I have been searching for info about my sunroof (wont open) and more info about the cam sensor harness. The check engine light just came on, and is idling slightly rough... 153k on the odometer.

Had this done to my car two weeks ago. If it's the leaking Solenoids, they'll just add two wiring harness adapters to prevent the leaking oil from negatively effecting the CPU. If it has caused any damage, I'm sure they'll replace at no cost. Guess I was lucky.

I tried to see if they would do my breather hose as well, but they indicated it was already done by the previous owner in 2009. Just in case, I bought a new hose. Apparently this little bugger has a short lifespan - guess we'll see.

quick question my car...2003 c230k coupe is in an independent shop for a belt replacement, it has 157k miles on it, can i take it for the recall?

If it hasn't been done you should at least call the service department of your local dealer and ask if there are any "Open Campaign" for your VIN number...

If it's already been done then I don't believe they will do it again.
As for your other questions you need to be more detailed and not just state "my sunroof won't open". Does it make a noise when you depress the switch, is it stuck in any position, does it tilt up?

Ok so I have called up and checked m271 engines in Australia do not need a recall as they said the engine specs are slightly different and if it there was a engine problem they will contact you ( apparently they have access to gov files that tells them who owns a Merc even of you are the 5th owner )

Some of the recalls `never expire` so they should honor it. Unless of course you find yourself in South Africa, like me. When you ask MB about recall here they simply have no idea what you mean. Tried to get the little pigtails done - nada. The just put a little barcode sticker in my fuel cap. That was the only open campaign.

Does anyone know if this recall was for the c203 model only?, I have a m271 engine in my c180 auto 2004 which looks like it needs this same hose replacing, if somebody could confirm if its for all the m271 engines I would be grateful.

I had some issues recently which I assumed were from the famous $12 hose or similar ones that were replaced in the recall, but after removing the airbox I realized I had a couple small cracks in 2 small hoses going to the evap regeneration valve (green bottle thing). I have not seen anyone else on here talk about these hoses, so I'm including some pictures in case anyone else sees this. Part numbers are:

So did anyone figure out if this has a time limit on it? I got my 03 c230k a year and a half ago and just seen this. I know there is an issue with the hose. Any info?

It ain't rocket science... if you want to know if your local will do it, USE YOUR TELEPHONE. Have the VIN ready.

I bought my 2004 c230 recently and was wondering how I would know if this work has been done on it? anyone still have their car and want to take a picture of the hoses?

Can you be more specific on the issues at the time? Wondering if I'm having the same problem. Also, were you able to find the root cause?

I also found my 7226 hose cracked and will be replacing it. The 0381 one is fine though. Thanks for the heads up.

The other side of the regeneration valve also uses the same 7226 hose (but with no hose clamps), interesting enough. Just checked the one on my car and it's also fine.

Short of contacting the dealer with your VIN, I guess one way to tell is to check and see if your $12 hose is made of the newer material. See post #7.

How come only in the US you can these recalls and have your card fixed for free? In the UK there is not such thing. I don't have any issues yet with the hose, but I had with the cam solenoids leaking oil and the dealership had no idea about any recalls.

Are they doing this for the c320 too. Im new to al this, so I don't know what motor I have, I think its the M112, as its a 2005 C320 4-matic.

Doesn't apply to the C320. With that said, you can always give your VIN to the local dealer to see if any other recalls (such as sunroof adhesive) apply to you.

Recalls do not expire
