Okay. Just had A service and asked my SA about any TSBs, recalls, etc, and he said "nothing" applicable, and that it was based on VIN number. I asked, "nothing specifically for the M271?" and he said, "no".
I didn't have the Bulletin number so I couldn't really challenge him on it.
What's with that?

I'm not sure this applies to me in the UK, I just got off the phone with the dealer and they say there is no recall on my car, and guess what?
Just been under the freakin bonnet with my maglight and mirror and that same freakin hose has a nice big split in it.
Looks like i'm going to have to talk them into it or get my hands dirty with the snap-on box.

Brought my c230 to the dealership last week for a Service A and performed the recall at the same time. Car runs alot smoother but unsure if it was because of the recall procedure or the A service.
They kept the car the entire day for the recall procedure. It was done at Helms Brothers Mercedes off Utopia Avenue in Bayside, New York.

2005 C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan
I just called my dealership today. I have a 2005 C230 Kompressor SS that I bought from them at the end of June. They said that there it doesn't apply to my car. Do you guys think I should get a second opinion from another dealership or you think that's legit?
I wonder if it was done before I got the car.

reddog - I would call them back, or visit them in person, and tell them that this recall most certainly applies to your car, and the question is really if it has been done all ready or not. If they give you any hassles, I would assume this is a clueless dealer and would be hesitant to have any work on my car performed there. I've found out first hand that not all Mercedes dealers are equal ...

I just bought a 2005 c230k. It has 38k miles, and the 4 years of warranty is just up. I haven't taken the car to a dealer to see if the work has been done or not. If it hasn't, is this an actual recall, where they have to fix it, or could they tell me I'm out of warranty, so I'm out of luck?

i would watch out for fj merecdes on that hose.
i got mine replaced there and the tech didnt screw it on tight enough.. surely enough. i left the stealership at 2:30pm, and was back within 30 minutes cause the hose came loose.
had to leave the car overnight and get a loaner.. pissed me off.

man, i got car service at fletcher jones and i swear, ever since i got my car back from the service, my mileage has been a lot lower.
talked to the service rep about it and am taking it back this monday but he said that the hose has nothing to do with the mileage....
anyone have the same experience...or any idea what it could be so that i can talk it out with the dealership
this **** is really annoying....the beauty of this car was its mileage while being a benz...now im getting the same mileage as my friends 335i

I am no pro but if your fuel consumption has increased drastically and not due to the PCV hose, the only thing I can think of at this stage is that it could possibly be the cam sensor which is another common problem on the M271 motor... leaks oil into the engine harness and runs down to the O2 (oxygen/lambda) sensor... causes the sensor to give 'faulty' readings and inturn causing the car to run rich...
just a thought

ridiculous. they said nothing is wrong with the mileage when I am obviously getting less mileage now than i did before i got the service.
should follow the wise ol adage "don't fix it if it ain't broke"
dammit, i dont even look at my mileage readouts anymore...

2003 C230 Coupe
All, It is still going. Joined the site, saw the info and called my relatively local dealership and will be there for the 4hr fix next week. They will also be checking for the cam sensor harness issue for 2003 M271's. Thanks All. Website already paying off. P.J.
