I just noticed that some C-sportcoupes have the mast antenna in the back of their cars while others do not?.... I find that to be very peculiar.....Has this subject been discussed?....

Some coupes have Tele-aid, but most do not. The ones which have Tele-aid have the antenna.

So are you saying if you don't have the antenna.... you would need to install a antenna to have tele aid?.... I have the antenna but i don't have tele aid.....

Do you have COMAND? That uses the antenna, too. If you don't have that either it is strange that you have the stub antenna. I think the integrated phone might use it, too

i don't have command either..... weird huh? maybe the car had tele aid but they turned it off....

they can't turn off teleiad. Do you have that SOS button nearby the dome light?

Yep i have a SOS button near the dome light... one time i pressed it... i got a recorded electronic operator, and all the music functions didn't work... I also have a malfunction telling me tele aid is not working.... When i first got my car the dealer asked me if i wanted tele-aid and i declined..... but i still have a mast antenna, an SOS button, and a malfunction telling tele-aid is not working.....

I've been meaning to tell the dealer to remove it.... i've become so accustomed to the malfunction.... 1 MALFUNCTION... haha... i'll get it fixed next time i go....

You may have that antenna as a tele-aid freebie promo that MBUSA did to its first shipment of C230's. I had a free tele-aid subscription for a year too...30 minutes free. Never used it though

Cools.... maybe.. i did get the car pretty early... although they wanted to charge me 750 for tele aid (free promo??).. i declined... yet i still have the mast antenna.....

My guess is that your car was:

A. ordered with Tele-Aid but the orignial buyer ended up not purchasing the car
B. an intial "free Tele-Aid promo car" left over at the end of the freebie time and the dealer thought he could make an extra buck (or $750)
C. entered the dealer's stock equiped with Tele-Aid (happens)

When you didn't want the Tele-Aid my guess is they sold you the car anyway, but just disconnected it somehow so you wouldn't get the use of it. Kind of lame in my opinion. The dealer should have just thown it in for free if they were going to sell you the car at the price you paid, why be petty like that?

I think the $750 is to have the car equipped with the electronics and buttons required by TeleAid. It has nothing to do with the use of it. You said you didn't want it, so they didn't charge you for it. But since it was there, it still should have been able to be activated and you get your first year free.

You should go to another dealer and tell them that your dealer never activated it for you. This dealer should be able to fax over your info and activate it and you get a year free. Unless you really don't want it, then don't worry about it.

I know you do. That is what the $750 is for. As long as your dealer didn't disconnect it, which i doubt they did, you can get it activated and you get a year's free service. Since you said you didn't want it, they just didn't activate it. But if you have the equipment, activation will make it work.
