How to proper install a rear truck lip?

Just purchased an AMG rear truck lip for my 04' sport sedan. My body shop put the damn thing on with double stick tape and the corners are coming off already. Plus you can see the white tape from the front and back. BAD JOBBBB. Anyways I want the lip on clean and looking proper.

The lip has screws slots but that might lead to rusting because of the open metal. Should I use an adhesive or something? Any info would help out alot.

Thanks,

On these cars, I've only heard of using double sided tape and/or silicone. Be sure to get it good and clean before using either method. I wouldn't use the screws, but if you do- be sure to use silicone around the holes- or your rust fear would become a reality.

i have seen the roof/window lips be installed with silicone with good results. for what it's worth- it's something you could do. buy a tube of it and have at it. you've got some time to move it around to get it centered before it's stuck down really tight.

They might try using molding tape -a dark brown, and on the rack at Wal*Mart- instead of the white foam you'd use to put up the Hello Kitty posters in the bathroom.
You might mention I referred to them as "morons", as you're leaving.

Never had any problems with double-sided tape - strange how just the corners came up. Sounds like they might have skimped a bit. I would take it back and get them to do it properly.

Double sided tape FTW! ! ! DIY . . . just clean the area and mount it on with 3M Double Sided automotive tape. Put like (3) 25 pound weights on top of spoiler and let it cure overnight, should be good the next day. Thats what I did with my Renntech and it works awesome

Thanks.....

I think I am going to try again with the double stick tape and get another body shop to do it. If that does not work I will just use the adhesive and get the sucker on there.

Thanks for all the replys,

I will be uploading new pics of the car when its all complete still waiting for some parts and kits.

Mine came with double sided tape and I had a buddy head up to my office when I received it for an extrea hand...I slapped it on after taking a good look at the placement and held it down for a minute then let it sit for a few hours. Came out great
