ernster,

The rims look great!! Really sets off the white, too. Please take some day pics when you get a chance. I'm ready to see those bad boys. As for the shaving, I don't have any rubbing issues, and don't know why you might have. ?? I guess we'll know more as others get theirs on.

uhm so how far down do you have to cut them? and doesnt it rust at the end where you cut it of because you are loosing the coating of the lug in that one particular spot?

we were told that these wheels would fit our mercedes without any spacers. now the fact that i had to buy the lugs isnt really a big deal, but now having some the wrong size in need to get cut down annoys me. even further we now need spacers for the front which i also have to buy which runs me close to another $250 and the ride without spacers is always better than with them. whats next? the wheels falling apart after 500 miles for some other reason not considered by the manufacturer?

apologies on the bolts issue again. 30mm shank should be the correct length of the bolts.

As for the wider track issue, I did not know this for a fact, but I went to find out after Ernster called me up regarding the issue. Seem like for 05-06 MB made the overall width of the axel wider than 01-04.5 to cause the mounting point of the caliper and rotor slightly different than the AMG/Brembo brakes. That might be the reason that 05-06's caliper will touch a little bit. The C55/32/04.5 does not have this issue. I will be suggesting the wheel manufacturer to look into this and perhaps add 2-3mm offset to solve this issue, so that we can avoid this issue all together in the future.

just so you guys know, I tested fitment of the wheels on my car before I send them out so I can make sure that it does clear the big caliper. However I seriously did not know due to 05-06's wider track as MBZ claimed would made them different than the C32/55/04.5. For this I apologies.

well nevertheless all of us with c230 05+ now need to get this solved in some way. i guess its either spacers or shaving it down like ernster did.

so this one is a 5mm spacer (2 for ~$100). is this the one we need?

-when shaving them, does that affect the integrity of the wheel and is there any chance for it to rust? ernster - how much were you charged for that extra shaving? and does a authorized mercedes benz dealer do that?

DAM! This pisses me off too. Thought we had a great deal on these wheels and now we have more problems. I bought the bolts and can't believe its the wrong size.

I'm not sure what I should do about the shaving or spacer thing. Can someone tell me what size spacer I need and where to buy them from?

Maybe I should just sell them back out.

Thanks.

I think a 5mm hubcentric spacer should solve the problem. I'd definitely go that route instead of grinding down the insides of the spokes. I assume the insides of the spokes are also painted black, so I can only imagine the paint would begin peeling from the inside of the spokes if you grind through the paint. Also, if the bolts were a few mm too long before, they'll probably be a perfect fit with the spacers.

I think 3mm spacer should take care of it. I'll send these out ASAP for free for all of you 05-06 group-buyers. They would not cause any vibration.

yes, I will sent out the 3mm spacers (pair) for the 05-06 sport sedan with the big caliper.

your 05 sport coupe would have zero problem fitting these wheels since you don't have the big caliper or do you??

the rims

I will post day pics in a bit. The shaving cost me 20 dollar tip to my guy, but don't forget he is a friend of mine. He did a great job. They will not flake or peel because of it. He did it real professional. The bolts also needed a bit of cutting. the long ones needed to be cut alot and the shorter ones need to be cut about two turns off. After everything, it turned out good.

Frank you did a good job with the group buy!!! Nothing that you could know about the wider track thing.. Thanks. We all just have to find out more about our cars, i guess.

Razor if you need this done call me or email and I will send you to the place I went. He is very good and will do it for you.

Ernster,

Thanks for the assistance. I'm going to wait for FrankW to send us Spacers and see what happens.

Thanks FrankW! Sorry to be harsh on the above comments. I just got pissed when I heard Ernster had to custom shave his to make it work and than the bolts custom cut and stuff.

The big snow storm is probably going to stop you from taking pictures Ernster

Now I have to wait and see if anyone can tell us the exact measurements for the bolts so that I can start cutting them.

now ernster said that the rims were shaved about 1/4" - frank you think that 3mm spacers will be enough?

1/4" = 6.5 mm

There's no problem with the C32/55 as I have tested them on my car. I sent you a email regarding the wheels. They are here at supplier's warehouse now. Give me a call on Monday to see when do you want to meet up and pick them up.

thanks for the comments guys. I really like the look of the rims on the car. I think that it is fine without lowering it, so I am going to put money on different things for the car. I think that I am going to get the weltmeister exhaust and the spoiler for the car. Also going to upgrade the trunk with a great new system. Don't know when this is going to take place but it will. One step at a time.

Car is not lowered. It looks it though. I like the ride height so I am not going to do any adjustments to the suspension. Vic if your car is not an 05 or higher I think you might have to lower to get the gap fixed for the front. I was wondering about this before I put mine on but I think it looks great.
