Out of curiosity, this statement has no meaning unless you have some comparison data...what oil were you using before? How much improvement from the last time you made the exact trip at the same speed, temps, etc. with the previous oil?

dude, 33.5 mpg from a 3.5l motor is great in any setting, my car is rated at 29 mpg hiway, just thought other s might like the data. havnt had the car long enuf to compare vs standard mobil 1, but others w/ this car who use mobil 1 may want to chime in and compare mpg.

Please don't think I'm trying to discredit you, but this sounds extremely unlikely.
I hope it's true because that would be great! But I really doubt it. Unless someone can prove this scientifically I'm going to stick to Mobile 1.

white and whiter
maybe the car was dying for an oil change to begin with, so you saw what you can normally achieve with new oil.
didn't know the C350 hwy was rated at 29. I thought they were the same as the new one. my 204 is only rated at 25 although on the hwy going 70mph can achieve 28mpg. once broken in it should be even better.

Yah, and Mercedes said I had to change my transmission, torque converter, and radiator...so I changed out my radiator myself and fully flushed the transmission and the problems and cels went away. In other words..the factory doesn't always know best...trust me, I've been working on assorted cars now for over 20 years.

Not unlikely/a surprise at all. I have the same car (luxury) with a 7spd auto, and I have seen 34.7 on a 2-lane road trip, 120 miles not going over 60mph, and no AC. With skinny 205 series tires, and 1800rpm at 60, it's easy. And that's with 40-weight oil, but again, an extra gear
