okay I have another problem now. the CEL just came back on again and this time it reads PO335 (crankshaft malfunction). could this be that i install the spark plugs wrong or i resealed the valve cover wrong causing more things to break down? some input please thanks.

P0335 = Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction. You need a new CPS. This is common & will give you all sorts of poor running & starting problems because the engine does not know when it's at TDC
You did not cause this. Replace & all should be well.

thats just so odd that it would occur right after I fixed my cyclinder 2 misfire problem
...where would I purchase a CPS? and is it easy to replace ? is there a DYI? thanks Glyn for your quick reply!!

Here - No 5 is CPS - back of motor above the ringgear.
Easy to replace - not expensive. These darn things often snuff out on the V6 - now we know why you still had a rough idle. It was trying to sense from the cam sensors which keeps it running but not properly.
You need local knowledge as to where to buy apart from the dealer. - Good luck

Everything gets hot. Don't worry - just watch the temp gauge on your multifunction screen.

Here is a comment from member - KarlBenz - on replacement

"Replacement of L5 (crankshaft position sensor) is relatively easy with proper tools 1/4' 12 inch extension with flex socket on end connected to another 3" short extension and the proper socket, simply remove air cleaner assembly and with enough light to follow/see wire behind left cylinder head remove/loosen bolt holding L5 in place reinstalling by placing grease/white lube on bolt installing in sensor and then tightening down Note that on removal a long magnet might aid in retrieving of small bolt that could fall into abyss on engine Its a simple 15 minute change" Unquote

okaay weird I disconnected the battery the other day temporialy and when i reconnected it. The check engine light was gone and no codes were present anymore. I'm confused now because the car starts up fine and drives fine, so should I still replace the Crankshaft position sensor? btw does the crankshaft have anything to do with me being rejected for air care? I just took my car in yesterday and the guys there couldn't get a readout with their OBD readers and on the sheet it says the following: Vehicle on board dianostic system was interrogated...the following monitors not set: catalyst, evaporative, secondary air, EGR.

You pulled the battery & lost all records. Now you are going to have to drive the car in varying conditions for a couple of 100 miles before they can check you for emissions. Is the car still idling a little erratically? CPSs don't improve. You can drive it for a while & see what happens. Only trouble is you might get stuck somewhere if the CPS let's go completely.
