Alarm Beep For C-Class?
I was wondering if there is any type of beep that the alarm makes when you hit the lock button on your key fob?
Is it something the dealer has to do?

I guess ill have to go to the dealer and ask them. Hope they don't charge for something like that.
My dealer said that if they where hooking me up to computer anyway, they would do it for free.
Just wish it made a beep =/

It's been so long since I've been to the dealer...it was $106/hr. at MBLN last time.
As an added feature request some programming.
He can set the "Netherlands Setting" alarm beep and keep your PANIC feature active too.
That's what I have on both of my C-Classes.
That can only be done on his special version engineering version of DAS.
US MB dealers won't know how to do that.

Talk to one of the techs and make a deal with him *hint hint
Thats how I got my xenons set.
I think it is the US Buzzard that enables the beep and panic.

I had my local MB dealership program the netherlands setting while it was in for an issue, and they didn't charge me anything. My panic feature still works as well. But here's the deal:
There are 2 types of beeps. A slower mellower beep, and a faster sharper beep. If you search for Netherlands setting, there are some threads that go into quite a bit of detail, with some video clip links. Or you can also search youtube for "netherlands setting."
I preferred the slower beep, but ended up with the faster one. Not sure if each car is coded to be able to choose which beep you want or not, but my thinking is that the older model vehicles from 2001 to early 2005 have the only the slower beep while the newer 2005 to 2007 models have only the faster beep. In fact, the loaner C's that I've had were all 2006 and 2007 models and all of them have the faster beeping. My car is a very late build 2005, having been built in Bremen with a date code of 04/2005. 2006 models started being produced in 05/2005. So, because it's so close to a 2006 model, mine has the faster beeping. Can anyone substantiate this?
BTW, my dealer also wasn't able to figure out how to enable the fuel gallons remaining feature.

How come some places have different productions options available? Did they figure that ppl in the US didn't want there car to make a beep sound?
Because its starting to sound like there are a lot of goodies that need to be enabled =/
EDIT: Sorry, I didn't address your other remark. You can press those buttons, but nothing will happen if you don't have the phone system set up. It will state in the MFD that it is trying to call, but won't go through. Even pressing the "SOS" button won't go through, however though, you will get a loud beeping noise after the Teleaid attempts to connect and fails.

The alarm is standard fitment in South Africa & even locks up the transmission. If you don't have the key then the only way to steal the car is to pick it up & put it on a truck etc. Car theft is more of a problem here than the US

We don't have the chirp enabled here or the panick button. I don't have a clue how they decided on what to have for which markets

Do you have the panick button on your key fob? Kinda dumb if you ask me that they choose like that. Or why make them different for each market
