Just changed my fuel filter today, damn these MB clamps are hard to take off~
Yes, replace these clamps with screw driver ones from Autozone~ and make sure you wear latex gloves and safety goggles.

Will any brand do? Surely, Bosch will last longer, I suppose. Just curious before I make the decision to just give into the dealership's OEM 115 dollar part instead of the 59.99 dollar part at autozone.

+1 Filters are not all equal but either Mahle or Bosch would be absolutely fine. Please don't buy junk filters.

getmercedesparts.com has the filter for 46.25 now...
Recently did this on both my and my wife's cars. My understanding is that this procedure is much more important now that ethanol blends are common.
GetMercedesParts.com (M-B of Annapolis) has W203 OEM fuel filters for $86.25 (vs. $115 at my local dealer).
Remove the gas cap (per M-B manual) to relieve fuel system pressure.
I use regular hose clamps and they work fine. Crimping the fuel lines is a pain -- only one line really leaks for more than a second or two -- so just have the new filter handy, and slip the one line that really leaks onto the new filter as soon as it is disconnected from the old filter.
And while I generally think that wearing safety glasses is kind of stupid - do it. Gas in the mouth tastes bad, but gas in the eye hurts like hell (I put my glasses on too late).

hey guys I am about to change my fuel filter and i am wondering if there is a fuel pressure relief valve on the m112 engine and where it's at or if opening the gas cap will do the job. thanks

Cap is all that's required. No need to depressurise the fuel rail at valve in engine compartment.

Anyone had a problem with the engine missing after the Fuel Filter change?
Changed mine the other day, had some missing, CEL, but cleared up after driving it a bit, and cleared the codes with my reader.
Now if I let the car sit overnight the thing misses again, CEL, and does this until the car has run for a few minutes?
Could it take this long to purge the fuel lines?
Glyn, Todd?????
By the way, those clamps are called "Oetiker Clamps", and you can buy the kit with a bunch of different sizes and the pliers for about $50. online.
Thanks,
Dave

The filter includes the fuel pressure regulator. Hope you have not got a bad one. Hope you did not disturb dirt that might have got to the pump. Would seem unlikely.

I was afraid that the filter had the regulator in it.
Was okay this morning, will give it another day or so before I call SSF to see about them giving me another filter.
Thanks,
Dave

same happened to me after a fuel filter change. Left it idling after the change then left for an errand and started missing. Gave me a bank 1 cylinder code ( iirc correctly). Cleared it and turned on just fine after ward

Now I'm looking forward to a fuel filter replacement, but didn't realize they were that expensive, even here in Germany. I'm hoping I can find a good quality, lower price replacement.

sk - Be careful - Buy the genuine article. It contains the fuel pressure regulator & we have had trouble with aftermarket units causing low fuel pressure with resultant poor running.

Thanks. I'll look for the oem replacement, since the dealers are nuts about pricing. Luckily, for items like this, we can get the Mann replacement...
Or maybe it's just not worth it. They last a long time anyhow...

Bosch stuff is iffy in the US due to licensing their names. You see Bosch, but it might be champion or whatever other company paid to use their name for the filters.

Seriously?
I've done mine twice, both times with Bosch.
No problems so far.
I mean they INVENTED EFI.
I can't imagine they can't make a proper fuel filter.
The Knekt one is what the dealer sells.

What you get from Bosch depends on your local market and you have to go on a case by case basis, as with anything.
PS- it was not invented by Bosch.
