Cracked key isnt covered under warranty???

Cracked key isnt covered under warranty???
i just brought my car in for some warranty repairs. my key is cracked and the service advisor said its not covered under warranty.
wat gives?? i see a few people here got it replaced under warranty.
should i contact the mb corporate office?
whats the number for it?

Did the Key crack from normal use or being abused & dropped? If normal fair use, get hold of your factory rep.

mine just wasnt working properly...I think they suggested the give me a new key...I was like the other works...but long story short...new key..no questions asked...alll under warranty

Unfortunately they will most likely say it's a normal wear and tear item. I have had a few have this problem and they claim they use their nail too much and that's why they cracked. I agree that you will most likely have to go above to MBUSA to get this taken care of.

That would be just bad engineering, material choice, and product integrity testing - For example - IF I used mine 1,440 times that would be a lot! This is the assumption that I drove it half the year and locked it twice a day for the past four years...
2 lock cycles x 180 days x 4 years
Also, this is a PIVOTAL part of M-B technology - the SMARTKEY that interacts with the EIS, without it you mine as well not have a starter!
