The biggest con is the M271 engine's leaking cam sensors. Get one that's OK & fit the pigtales if it has not been done & you should be OK. Read the forum. There is a huge amount of info on the 2005.

I would agree with getting an 05, and forgetting about the 03. The 05's have redesigned interiors and include the ///AMG sport package on the exterior. The 05's also have the newer M271 1.8L Supercharged engine vs the 03's M211 engine. Both engines are fine, but I think the M271 is stronger despite a slight horsepower loss vs the M211.

If you're looking to get away from the soccer dad look, the 05's would fit the bill. Along with the ///AMG exterior package, they are also lowered significantly more than the 03 (check out the pics and you'll notice the 03 looks like it's on stilts, and have a sportier suspension setup.

Speaking of pics, that interior pic for the 03 is wrong. That's not a Mercedes C Class (or any Mercedes) interior.

I'm partial to the 2 05's you linked as they closely match my car

Yeah the 03 has a Toyota corolla interior As stated above look out for leaky cam sensors on the m271 engine (4cyl supercharged) which are a big problem found in these motors, other than that test drive and pick your favorite color if you are looking for a manual transmission you can look for those too as it was an option for these models

I have an '05 C230 with about 37,000 miles on it -- owned it for just about a year and love it everytime I get behind the wheel. It's still under factory warranty for a few more months, but the dealer has been great about fixing a few small things that have come it.

I would stick with an '05 or '06. A friend bought an '07 and it has some awful grey interior pieces instead of the aluminum. Of course, with the '06 you're looking at a V6 instead of the supercharged 4. Mines getting between 27-33 mpg, which ain't too shabby in my book.
