Thumbs up Evosport review

WOO-WHOO....
Did a lot of work this week. Evosport sold me and installed the underdrive pulley kit, their sway bars, C32 front calipers and rotors, and Brembo drilled rear rotors.

First, let me say I didn't use Evosport on my past mods because they were always a little more expensive. But now I understand why - they know what they are doing, did not try to sell me something I didn't need, and their own brand products WORK! They held my hand while working on my baby, answering and explaining mods that work and don't and SHOWING me why. In this day and age, that comfort level is PRICELESS.

Everyone with a C240 should install their underdrive pulley kit. The difference is so subtle yet the power gain is there! The most power gain with the least amount of grief and expense you can get, they even make the parts look so stock the dealership won't even notice. I've talked to others who said, quietly, of course they had done it, but I just wanted to put it out there for all. I urge you to do this!

And on the front brakes, I just couldn't deal with the high prices for Brembo and the like. While he would like to sell them to me, Vadim bluntly said that since I was not tracking the car, the C32 brakes, with Brembo-made rotors, would be less than half the price and give me what I want, and he was right!

if you don't mind me asking, how much was it for the c32 rotors and claipers and were there any other parts needed for the swap?

UD pulleys spin the accessories at a slower rate so they use less power and it can go to the wheels. You dont make any more power you just get to use more of what you make where it counts! I don't think there is an underdrive set for the c230k yet.

How many HP does the pulley give you? I've read that it gives around 30?

Also does this work on the C320 also? I keep hearing about it on the 230.

oggle, we're talking about different things for the 230 and the 240/320. The pulley for the 230 is a larger crank pulley which causes the supercharger to turn faster, which produces higher boost pressues, and thereby more horsepower (about 30 hp).

The underdrive pulley set for the 240/320 are smaller pulleys for the alternator, power steering pump and air conditioner cpmpressor. These pulleys cause these items to operate slower and therefore consume less hp, making that hp available at the rear wheels (about 14 hp).

Larger not smaller. Smaller would spin faster needing more power.

for those of you who have installed the UD pulley, do you find a difference in the hp or is it extermely subtle.....i.e. do you think it is worth the money???

1999 c43 w/lots of mods
i have the pulleys on my c43...i think i got 15hp at the wheels...you really feel the difference, where you feel it most is when you are going 20-50 and you punch it, when it kicks down a gear you really feel the added power 1-3rd gear there is a night and day difference....by the time in in4th im too worried about getting pulled over to notice the hp gain, but for the c43 is was the best mod i did to the car, really frees up some hp

Yes, you are correct. Larger pulley at the power source will make everything turn faster. Larger pulley at the driven item will make it turn slower. Suffering from brain fade when I posted that.

So you are the one who got the C32 brake upgrade. Hehe. Thats why I couldnt do mine this week. LOL. Im going in next week for it. I cant wait.

I have the UD pulley kit and it helped a lot. In the summer you will really notice the difference with the a/c on. The stock C240 gets very drained of power when its hot and you have the a/c on. The UD frees it up and it feels good. Evosport is very professional and good at what they do. And they always take care of their customers.

I have a CLK430 with the UD pulley kit, so my gains are ABOUT the same as Eurorides420, which is significantly less % wise as on the C-classes (240 and 320) and i definitely FEEL the difference, just like eurorides pointed out. good for about 14 hp, which starting from 275 takes me to 289, which isnt a lot, but i do feel it. for example, 215 on the 320 to almost 230 is a nice little increase. for the price, you cant go wrong.

Question

Have any of you that installed the UD pulleys noticed an improvement in fuel economy?

Not really, its the same. Even with my KLEEMANN its about the same. Maybe I get a little less but not considerably less.

That's because its supposed to be professionally installed. Evosport is the one to do this; not really a DIY project... although with you being in Flordia you will need to find a Benz shop that will do it correctly. Make sure they use the belt provided as I've read the OEM belts will get torn up.

I've been quoted at $589 installed by Evosport. 2hrs of labor at 105/hr and 379.00 for the kit. I am thinking about making an appointment next week for installation.

And this thread is going on 4 years old, could we have started another?

Good luck on the install. If you can maybe you can do a little write up on it.

It's good to say nice things about EvoSport...
they own the site. Saying bad things can get you kicked out...
we hear and obey....

But seriously though, they are pretty much responsible for getting 32 brakes for those of us who have 'em.
