CLS vs CLK

So im thinkin of trading to either a 06 CLS 500 or a 05 CLK 500

Here's a link to them, go to the second page of listing and they are in the middle.
http://www.morristown.mercedescenter...0014174335RCRD

Anyone got some input? Im going on weds evening to look at them. There are several other cars on my list but these two got my attention first.

well they are not in the same class so it depends on your needs.
the CLS is one of the most beautiful sedans you can get (and definitly the most beautiful in the 30k range)...
I dont like 4 seater convertible, they cannot look good, and the two back seats are useless, not enough leg room for adults, and they spoil the look of the car... i would take the new SLK (no idea about the prices) over the CLK500 anyday...
again, its all about your needs, i would choose the CLS without hesitation.

EDIT : and i dont know about the CLS, but the CLK resale value is.... (lol) (CLK55 sold for mid 20's these days)
and btw i dont like the prices, 99 clk320 with 80k for 13.9k + fees !!! and its not a convertible... too much...

CLS is a nice car apart from looking like an Australian Ford Falcon POS. Styling has been it's downfall on world markets. America seems to like it.

IMO, too much $$ for the CLK. I'd get a C55 over either of those, but if you've narrowed it down to just them then I'd go CLS.

I'm not trying to be a smart A$$ but isn;t the CLS considered a coupe?

I once heard that it only has 4 seats. That in the back there is no seat in the middle.

Can anyone confirm this?

I would go with the CLS but i rather go with the C55 :-)

The CLS is a sedan styled to look like a coupe. It's technically still a sedan, even though you're correct about it being a 4 seater.

and "jk062602kj" the CLK isnt a proper four seater.. did you know that you have more leg room in the cl203 than in the CLK ?
so the CLS is a real four seater, four doors, and styled to look like a two door car..

I've always liked the CLS... especially the one with the words "V8 Kompressor" on the side. And "6.3 AMG" isn't too shabby either, though I'm biased to the 5.4L Kompressor engine for it's monster torque figures.

My vote still goes for C55. And with the money you save, you could invest in a long extended warranty. A Honda dealership in Atlanta recently had a 2005 C55 with 44k miles, 1 owner, clean title, Mars Red - for $21k. It was ridiculous.

I think that the "real four seater" term is a little generous in describing the CLS. I sat in one at the NYS Autoshow on Sunday, and still think the headroom is terrible.

I sat on my cuzin' CLS......and I don't really like it.

They cut a chunk of roof out of E-class chassic....makes the rear passenger feel very uncomfortable(not enough headroom)....and the front of CLS looks kinda UGLY to me.(except the AMG version)

So......i would say go with the real sporty CLK or E-class if you care about rear passengers

I'm not saying that the CLK has tons of back seat room, but it has no less that the C-class. I would actually say, although it's probably just a psychological blunder, but the w208 back seat actually seems bigger than my w203!

Is this the Falcon?
I don't know about you guys but I don;t think it looks too bad, I mean I would buy if
if the sticker price isn't over 20k US.
Looks a little bit better than the Ford Fusion.

They have a Cobra edition as well??

maybe the falcon remind you of the CLS but the best point in the CLS is that it looks like a coupe, the falcon fail to do so...

They were only gonna give me $12,500 trade in value on my 06 C280 4matic with 32k miles. In addition to that BS the best they could offer me on the 06 CLS w/36k miles is 8.49% financing with $20k down payment and monthly payments of $400 for 66 months!!!!! The car was only stickered at $36,900

In other words, eff that noise, what a load of

Yeah it looks like a CLS untill you open your eyes. Looks like a big focus or a sedan gto, and the older one is a suped up ford taurus. You can't compare. Thats like saying all mini vans look alike. They do to a fine extent. It looks more like a s class if any ( the older one).

Best lookn car on the road today!
