Pressed gas pedal, nothing happened. Transmission?
Did a search already. Anyway, i was on the expressway today and traffic was building up so i decided to switch lanes when i got an opening. I got an opening, but i had to accelerate pretty quickly to make it. I pressed the throttle almost to the floor because i was at a complete stop. The car went and then stopped, almost as if it slipped out of gear but my foot was still on the pedal and the revs stayed at about 3k. It then seemed to wake up or catch itself and picked up speed again. This worries me because if a car was coming behind in the other lane, i would've probably been rear ended. I've had the car for nearly 3 years now and this has never happened. What could it be?

Maybe a throttle reset my help?
I get that during traction control. I think your traction kicked in. The held the RPM then boom started taking off. That happens when I push my car to the limit. I was once in a lane then I wanted to change my lane then when I punched the gas to accelerate my car's traction kicked in and for 3 - 4 sec it didnt go then it took off like a flying Bat from Hell. Or when I am making a left turn when I push the pedal to hard same scenario traction kicks in. I can see that happening (c320).
This is off topic but I have noticed that most benzes (CL600, my car S500) that when you mash on the pedal the acceleration stinks. I think Benzes like to gently gain speed. My car takes off faster when I hit te gas half way rather than just doing a pedal to the metal.
Edit
Sorry for the long story I tend to make a short story long.
Basically it was probably your traction. If it was your transmission it wouldnt be stuck at 3K it would have reved higher.
Since you were almost at a complete stop and you turned your wheel to one direction then pressed the pedal all the way it probably made your rear tires loose grip thus activation traction control.

MB replaced the throttle position sensor and I never had another occurrence.
The 203 is a drive-by-wire system, rather than a traditional throttle cable. If the pedal sensor goes AWOL, the engine won't respond. Good luck!

Exact same thing happen to me. its the esp kickin' in, i believe ever since ive taken my car out to drag races, the ecu has "learned" and adapted that esp has been going off lately, therefore it just completely shuts off throttle whenever i floor it, then kicks in after a few seconds when it believes there is enough traction.
(it sucks cuz it kills seconds off my 1/4 time!)

I've gotten the ESP thing before but this felt a bit different. It happened quickly so i did not get to see whether or the ESP light came on the dash. I know ESP is supposed to help, but it could've hindered me in this situation.

I had something similar happen: https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w203/229165-bad-throttle-position-sensor.html

I had an Acura TL with one of Honda's stupid failing transmission designs and it's transmission would start slipping before it failed. It was sort of like what you described, only the engine would rev to redline and bounce off the rev limiter when the transmission slipped.

I usually just hit the ESP off button when I'm trying to make a quick move like that. Used to happen to me all the time with my CLK320. It had much more low end torque than the C230!!!

Hitting the ESP off button does nothing for me in my C230. At the first hint of wheelspin, the traction-control function is still active and still regulates it.

The ESP off button is designed to let the rear wheels spin faster than the front, but still regulates between the sides, so that one rear wheel cannot spin significantly faster than the other.

Pressing gas no power
hey i just had the same problem when I was on my way to GA this past week......I took it to the dealership in GA and had a test done to see what happened.....welllll.....It was the transmission module or "switch" what they call it........Meaning the computer that tells ur car to go to the next gear failed for a minute. It couldnt tell which gear to go to and I had to get it fixed or could have risked burning the trans up.........$1100 problem fixed
