Should I fix this bumper?

One of my friends have a junkyard and they let me have this AMG bumper. It is authentic but as you can see its beat up pretty bad. Does anyone think that I should fix this or should I just scrap it? I went to an independent shop by my house on the way home and they quoted me 300 for sanding bonding and painting it. He just didnt guarantee his work because of the crack saying that it would probably crack at the same spot in the winter time if I hit a curb. I talked to a kid today that was washing his car at the car wash and he said that his dad has a paintshop and there's some kind of adhesive you can buy for $80 that patches the crack and makes it look better than if you just bondo'd it. He said it worked great on his S4 but idk. Just asking you guys what I should do.

I'm sure he doesn't have an amg bumper on yet thats why he's trying to fix this one. But no I don't think it's worth it for just the front bumper

its def gonna take you some time. is that another crack at the bottom too? my friend used jb weld?? i think to fill some cracks he had. it comes in two tubes and you gotta mix it yourself. worked nicely kind of hard to sand down tho. you can get it at any auto parts store, we got it at autozone

Drill the end of the crack and that will stop it from spreading further. Then go ahead and have the shop repair it. 300 is a good price for the repair but make sure you drill it first. That is how you stop cracks from spreading as well in Fiberglass and CF.

Drilling the end of the crack is a damn good idea (why didn't I think of that?)

Judging by where the damage / crack is located I really don't see why you can't repair it yourself and then simply have it painted!

do what that kid said with the adhesive. I am pretty sure 3m makes those plastic repair products. It's probably a bad idea to just use bondo to "fix" it, it will most likely crack again with just slight flex.

Easily repaired but suggest you price all the bits, fogs, meshes, foams, impact strips, side lights etc. to use that bumper on your car. Then decide if it's worth it

Yeah I've been reading into that for a while now. I guess bumper reinforcement should run me about about $80, fogs about $100 and mesh about $100. Let me know if those numbers are off, but grand total would be $580 for a AMG bumper with all necessities after finished painting and all.

IDK guys, what would you do if you didnt have an AMG bumper, wanted one, and recieved this cracked one?

I have seen members here in the classified section sell bumpers for 300 (perfect bumpers)

The only reason I would repair it is for a way to learn (project). I wouldnt repair it to put it on, there are cheaper alternatives.

read more carefully. it's $580 with all the necessary parts including fixing it and painting it.

$300 from classified you still need to add paint and parts which basically adds the cost of the bumper which is free for him.

fiberglass it with a metal brace behind it.. then bondo the front and call it a day.. you can also use platic weld to do it, did it before on my motorcycle and it held up great.

here is one 350 and I don't think you will need anything else. But i'm not a pro on this. But I think shipping is going to rape you (230.00)

I guess fixing it may be the bets bet then

I'm not questioning you comment just curious. What other parts will be needed with the 300 one? Basically what other parts will I need if I get the bumper with fogs with mesh?

Thanks

You would need a bumper reinforcement also. I believe that's it since I would just use the impact strips from my original bumper, or is that not possible?

the reinforcement and the foams. plus shipping it's not going to save him anything vs getting that bumper he already has repaired and fitted with all the parts.

I just had the AMG front bumper on my car replaced after a run in with a small dog and the bumper cover was $970 according to the repair order. After the paint and the mountings the repair came to $1800 and only the bumper and fender lining was replaced.

Well the bumper cover is the actual bumper that you see, that is what I got for free and need to fix. So since they charged you labor and maybe a little extra for the mountings and paint. The shop is charging me 300 to fix and paint it, unless I fix it and just have them paint it. However, I was looking at a pewter c class on here with the rieger front lip. Idk, maybe I should just get that

I don't like the AMG bumper - I think it looks crude - You can do better.

AMG bumper is the best looking one, IMO!
