Out Of Control!!
QUESTION: Has anyone either replaced theirs on their own (either at dealership or independent shop with StarDiagnose), or had it replaced under warranty?
I'm probably going to now wait until next spring to do mine, as we're about 6 weeks from this issue resolving itself on the NE part of the country. So was wondering if anyone has had theirs replaced, and if so, how long it has been since it was replaced, and how is the replacement holding up.
Rick (Mister Brenton here) can get a replacement for $675, and there's a local shop that can swap it out and get all of the reprogramming done. So it may not be too bad after all is said and done, most definitely much less than the estimate of $12-1500 at a dealership.
Any info, please post. Gracias!

Imagine selling the thing and the mileage doesn't show up on the cluster or shows up but with all these dot matrix pixel disappear in random area's. This type of thing happen to my Lexus hvac control head panel were the L.C.D leaked all black on the board causing the mode/vent controls to not show and I'd have to guess where the positioning of the vents were by feel. What a pain it was to fix with soldering a new board but I fixed it. I don't even want to tackle my benz and tamper with the cluster it's considered "odometer fraud" in the state of CA tampering with the cluster gauge. My benz and my husbands C32 amg has the same issue as well.

i looked into that but i thought about it for a while and i have seen late preface lift cars with the problem which leads me to believe that they never fixed the issue. so you would swap for a new screen and either have the problem now or down the road.

Even with a new part, you're obviously going to have this problem all over again eventually. I'd just prefer to do it with a new part than a several year old part that is going to do the same crap much quicker.

I had mine replaced twice in 4 years
I had mine replaced twice in a four year span, it was covered under extended warranty.
I think MB should recall this units and implement a permanent fix

2011 C63 AMG
Have 2002 C230 Coupe, previous owner told me they had taken it to dealer while car was still under warranty/ extended warranty. I guess dealer didn't want to replace it said it was due to the heat.
Still happens, bugs the shi* out of me since it gets so faded, even when it like 85 outside.
Hope something happens, sent my info.

Crappy lemons C Series Mercedes
Dude my display fades when it is hot, there are so many electrical issues with these model Mercedes it is crazy that they are still in business and riding there old reputation, it seems as if my car 2002 C320 Wagon is always at the shop, I went from a 2003 E320, to a 2002 C320 Wagon, and frankly both of them are and were pieces of crap, as they never stayed on the road for more than 3 months without some type of light coming on on the dash board, frankly it's frustrating, costly and time consuming....good luck, MBZ needs to help people out with these cars as they are really crappy lemon's, I have friends that have Kia's that are driving and happier than me with the repair cost of this car....
