Benzito's Official Thread

So I have hit 90k miles and I have been doing some minor maintenance on the car, couple weeks ago I changed the spark plugs, I went to the stealer and of course over paid for NGK spark plugs... but thats cool, changing the plugs on the 05 c230k was not as bad, so also i decided to clean/wash the K&N Filter and the air box with..

wile that was drying I also decided to clean the throttle with throttle cleaner and soft rags. (found a bit of oil not sure if its a big problem)

also droped in one of these bad boys

In the process i was looking at that ugly paper house/air intake that we have on the 1.8l engine. I was hella dirty but no way i was going to clean that, here is a pic.. (not an actual pic of my car)

mine was 5 years old and 10x more dirty... so i said the hell with this! and took everything apart and ripped it off!

had my friend take me to the local auto parts store and made this.

with 2 of those intake couplings and a 3" flexible/plastic air house (takes shape as you bend it) here are some pics of the process.

the couplings came with the the 3" plastic house, it screws right in - tightly and it stays firm and they don't separate.

after that i put everyting back together and called it a day, with this minor tuneup Im pexpecting to be back up at 34mpg on the fwy.

part 2 of me and the benzito teaser:

bought a kit to paint the caliper black with Mercedes Benz in white. I should be done with this today or tomorrow.

-------------

I welcome any tips you experts can give a newbie, working on cars is not my specialty but hey! I need to keep this car running good and looking good without hurting my wallet.

Nice work on replacing the paper tubing. The plastic tubing, do you notice if it gets hotter or warmer than the paper one?

its right next to the fan so i dont imagine it getting hot. i dont think the temp of the air thru the new plastic hose will be a problem - i will check it on a long drive and post details.

Last week got my new black color-lens-side markers in.

I have a pair of white/clear side markers now for sale. Anyone with maybe a gray car is interested in buying them (pm me about that)

then we went out for some rolling shots  check it out...

drove down to the port and was able to take a couple pics before the cops stopped us from taking pics under the Thomas bridge.

My favorite shots are the first and last photos. Other parts arrived a couple days ago... will be updating this thread soon.

gracias! :peace:

(moderator or admins can you change the name of this thread to "Benzito's official thread" ? plz.. thanks)
