EBC rotors for 20 bucks each? Yup.
I'm getting close to needing new rear brakes, and was pricing out the components looking for best prices etc.
I found these EBC standard type rotors for 20 bucks on autopartswarehouse.com a company that doesn't have the best
reputation.
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...n+%26+Steering
I called EBC to be certain the disks were for real and
not some crap rebadged from china and to be sure it's the correct pn. It is.
I like the dimpled slotted ones, but hey money is a little tight.
Anyone use the basic EBC disks?

I use EBC brake rotors, I use these:
http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...n+%26+Steering
Which are the dimpled/slotted ones.
with the EBC Red stuff....but! I do have a problem with them, not sure if its the brake pad or disc but i'll post up a video link later to show you guys what i mean.
It's basically a constant scrapping noise but when checked, nothings touching. I really think its the RED stuff because it's pretty much rock solid, it doesn't ever give out brake dust. So it sounds like its scrapping against the disc. I'm going to switch the red stuff out to see if its the problem on thursday.

Is the noise coming from the front or the back? If it's the front I'd jack it up, remove the wheel, and spin the brake rotor and see what's scraping. It could be a warped rotor, or imperfect pad, or anything really. Also, make sure the metal dust guard that is behind the rotor isn't bent and touching.

Yeh, I'm really jonesin' for the dimpled slotted ones.
I saw some pics posted, they look really nice with the drilled fronts.
I mean, it's likely the last time I'll ever do the rear brakes again, and with
ceramic pads, they'll easily last 100K miles. I got about 75K with just the organic pads. (rears)
I've had good luck with Akebono, so I'm sticking with them.
No noise, little dust, excellent stopping power.

Let me third that motion about the deals sticky. I am horrified at the prices I read about people paying for maintenance on this forum sometimes. I managed to do a brake job on my car for $348, parts, labor, and taxes recently by shopping around. That included OEM pads, rotors, and a fluid flush. All by shopping around. I refuse to pay the ridiculous amounts just because it's got a 3-pointed star on its hood.

Heck of a price. Thought yours had the C32 rears, too.

Well, I surfed around various sites for parts, trying to find the best prices.
I was just going to get MB original, about 40 each, but found that Bolo was also very good and made in germany according to some sites. They're only about 30 each.
I don't want Centric, absolute crap, made in China, and I don't want rotors from R1 concepts, because guess what, they use Centric rotors and then drill the holes.
Here's why drilled solid rotors like on the back of the coupe are bad, and why people like EPC only go as far putting dimples.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmW9c-7KCqA
Then I found the EBC's , thought it must've been a typo. So I called EBC, checked their site,
they even have a video about the quality control and what not.
Whats really amazing is that if they can sell them for 20 bucks, it must only cost them 10 bucks to make them? And at that price does it really cost them another 100 bucks to put the dimples and slots?
Geez....
How much you pay is in direct correlation for what you understand, and
are able to do yourself on your vehicle.
Every day, there's someone posting how they are either ripped off, or about to be ripped off.
$1500 alternators. $300 batteries. $300 oil changes?
A guy on benzworld had a mechanic tell him the pulley on the snout of the supercharger is held on with rivets, and it costs 3 grand to replace.
Fortunately he had the sense to post on it...
still, if you are the kind of person who says "all I know is I put gas in it"
well, then all you know is how get to bent over without any lube, and I hope you have lots of money to give away to idiots who claim to be professional mechanics.
I found the rear Akebono pads for 60 which BTW are EUR779's not the ones tirerack shows.
I know because I also called Akebono in Kentucky.....y'all. Rear brakes on US coupes are NON sport.
MB finally fixed the EPC to show the right pn's.

Brembo makes the factory rotors? I couldn't seem to find that out no matter where I searched. Some sites list "OEM supplier" on other names - no consistency. I have BALO front rotors now mated with Genuine MB pads. I won't buy these again, as the car already has a slight high-speed-brake shimmy @5000 miles of usage. Its OEM rotors went 53,000 miles before they were completely shot.

Yeah, I've never been able to nail down a definite OES for those front rotors. I'm highly pissed at the brakes on mine at the moment. It hasn't been 5000 miles, it's been 2500. I can't understand it's noticeable high-speed brake shudder already. I don't really want to rip the parts off and replace them so soon but the shake is bothering me really bad and this is really unacceptable. Thing is, I wonder if there could be another cause.. the shudder is felt in the floorboard more than the steering wheel as I'm used to.
