My gas sipping C-Class
Getting Close to 190k miles on my 2005.. and fuel economy.

Drove down to Ft Lauderdale Saturday morning to see my sister. I started my trip from West Melbourne (where my business is) and ended In Orlando on Sunday afternoon.

Filled up before I left and reset the trip computer.
Drove from west Melbourne to Ft Lauderdale, then home to Orlando, then back to West Melbourne this morning for work. I may be able to squeeze a trip back to Orlando and then back to work again in the morning (57 miles each way)
We'll see, as I have some city driving to do today, once I get home.

The reason the outside temp shows -40 is because I nailed a raccoon on the way to work a few weeks back and it destroyed my passenger fog lamp assembly. The temp sending unit is also located right next to the light and it was ripped off. It was in the 90's this weekend.....Definitely not -40 in Flroida!

Looks like I should be able to easily hit 500 miles on one tank. My best to date (and I don't try often, because I usually get around 25 mpg avg) is 499 miles on one tank.

We'll see what happens and I'll post a pic when I fill up.

Hybrids Shmybrids! I just filled our w203 last night and we are constantly getting 30MPG all City...when we road trip, or go highway we see up to and including 38MPG (With passenger ((s)) and cargo)

I bike (as in pedals) to work,

My previous best record was 36.7mpg coming back from NJ to RI at night on I-95N, driving about 70mph with all windows up, no a/c, and non-stop. Yesterday, driving home from Northern MA back home to RI on I-95S, I got a new best: 38.3mpg. Truthfully though, I was following my cousin who was only hitting 55-60mph the whole way, so I know that definitely helped my numbers.

I've hit 500 miles on one tank, it's certainly doable.

If you average 32 mpg, which is very possible on this car, you can get a full 500 miles on the tank.

Almost 200,000 miles! Still on the same clutch and everything! I hope it lasts for many more miles!

Ah, always love to see these sorts of posts. I am leaving in an hour or two on a trip that will put my 2005 through 58,000 miles. It's the only car I've ever loved enough to want to keep it through the mileage that Scott's has. My outside temp gauge, in the past three weeks, has started to stick at 77F anytime the car gets wet. It sticks for about 10 minutes and then springs to the correct temp.

Have any photos of the damage from the racoon? I imagine if you were on your way to work your speed was probably pretty high. I hit a dog in mine at low-speed back in April and it had $1,792 in damage. Hope your's isn't too ridiculous!

Man, those I4 are simply awesome on fuel consumption.

Coming from my 320, best i've seen was ~28mpg, usually on 100 mile trips i get like 26.7mpg and thats going 70 all the way, not putting a lot of stress on the engine. [Yes, i did reset my trip comp btw]

14mpg city here lol.....usually 22-23 on highway b/c s/c engages around 70mph, which sucks. these s/c cars need a six speed.

for you guys with higher mileage, changing the spark plugs (if you havent done so in like 80K+ miles) might get you some better gas mileage. and cleaning the intake filters.

Wow! That thing's got miles on it like a Peterbilt! I get 20mpg driving to and from work, but it's a highway with stop lights and I like to go faster than the speed limit, too. So I'm really happy with that.

190k..that's good to see...as much as I love my M3 I do miss my 05' C230 sometimes...especially when it comes to fuel consumption.

better intake - air filter - sparks plugs - ECU tune - better exhaust/muffler - proper tire pressure...
