Facelifting for 2001-2004:

NOTE: First of all this is for cars without a Soundsystem. I think it can work on a analog Bose system with re-wireing but not a Digital one? Mine is without any Bose.

You need:

1. Plastic inner frame to mount it all to. Old one is useless.

2. Upper UCP. Any CLK/C-class and G-class unit can be used. For Wagon you need the G-class UCP to get the working rear wiper switches. This is almost plug n play. All you need is to change the conector. The cables are located at the same place in the conector though. If you have the option heated seats the conector is the same. Plug n play. No programing needed for step 2.

3. Lower AC/Clima unit. Analog or digital. Both are plug n play. Same conector and all. No programing needed for step 3.

4. Upper and lower wood panels.

5. Head unit of your choise. Any one is fine. Here you might have to program the cluster if it is not programed before for Navi Comand.

6. Adaper cable so you can connect old connector to the new. (Bluetooth antenna and mic needed if you get Comand NTG 2.5)

7. Fakra GPS antenna if you didnt have Navi before.

NOTE: You will lose all D2B units like cd-changer and phone on this facelift.

With these parts you have it all working like it should except for the wheel buttons and info in the cluster. To make this work you need a MOST cluster retrofit.

Cluster Retrofit for 2002-2004:

1. You need a "NEW" W209 CLK cluster from 2005-2009.NOT W211.

This is a must if you want to make the MOST wheel buttons and cluster info to work. Much work and the W209 cluster dont fit 100%. It is a bit smaller than the W203 cluster. So some small gaps will apear. It needs to be new to be able to program the right ODO. If you dont care about that you can use a used one. This have to be programed.

Cluster Retrofit for 2001-11/2001:

1. You need a "NEW" W209 CLK cluster from 2005-2009. NOT W211.

2. You need 2 new fuel pumps with the new MAPS sensors to make the fuel gauge to work like it should. Needs programing to rear SAM.

Other than that it is the same as the above cluster retrofit.

Facelifting for 2005-2008:

NOTE: First of all this is for cars without a Soundsystem. I think it can work on a analog Bose system with re-wireing but not a Digital one?

1. Headunit of your choice.

2. Adapter cable from NTG2 to NTG2.5 if you make this retrofit. (Bluetooth antenna and mic needed if you get Comand NTG 2.5) Might need some programing to the cluster if you didnt have Navi before.

7. Fakra GPS antenna if you didnt have Navi before.

Facelifting for CLK W209 2002-2008

Same as above except there is no fitting NTG 2.5 for CLK. The W203 unit is to big to fit.

If you want any help to get these parts and cant find them with the forum sponsors just let me know and I help.

Here is the video.. A bit blurry but the best I could do.

Ok I know and have read that NTG 2.5 won't work with my HK amp but are there any other options? Aftermarket options? I have a facelift c class (C55)

I have just purchased a c180k coupe 2008 facelift w203, it has the audio 20 unit in at present.
Can you advise if its possible to put in a comand unit? if so what model will go in with out too much hassle and what parts etc will be needed for the job?

Or would I be better off going for an aftermarket headunit?

Thanks in advance Shanos

You would need everything you see such as buttons, new radio, climate control. Then you would need to either rewire the stereo as your car has the bose system which has an amp in the trunk and the sound is sent from the HU over fiber to the amp and the new HU does not support the same fiber connection. Why do you want to do that upgrade? You really don't gain anything

CLK 320 CDI 2006
Hey,
I really love your work. Good job!
I'm thinking about changing NTG 2 for NTG 2.5 in my 2006 CLK 320 CDI (European version).
Is it a difficult operation? I know that W203 Comand has slightly different shape as it's a little bit wider but I guess I can handle trimming that. What about technical side? Is it plug&play operation in that case?

Now I have additional mp3 cd changer and bluetooth SAP adapter (works fine) but I won't need that with NTG 2.5 as it has bulit-in bluetooth and can play music from SD cards (or even hard drive, is that correct?).

I just started my research but as far as I'm concerned I have to look for NTG 2.5 from CLC coupe. Is that the only headunit that will work in my C209 facelift?
What else do I need if I already had nav in my car? Will steering wheel control work? Will instrument cluster show for example nav directions or currently played song?

Any help would be appreciated.

Paweł

W203 and G-wagon use same nav unit. I have a 2006 C55 with Comand APS/MCS II and I have a NTG 2.5 unit from 2010 G55 and it fits but I don't know what else I need to do to make it work since my car has HK.

I see that suitable navis have round buttons. But what about Comand from SLK W171? It also has round buttons just some of them are white:

http://www.ebay.pl/itm/Mercedes-Coma...28a253e&_uhb=1

CLC Comand NTG 2.5 is kinda hard to get as it is a relatively rare car (produced from 2008 until 2010).

If you won't manage to make it work in your car tell me the price you'll be willing to sell it. Although I'm not 100% sure if US-EUR versions are fully interchangeable (i live in Poland so I need map of Europe).

SLK will not fit. CLC and 2009+ G-wagon use same NTG 2.5 unit. Nav unit can be reprogrammed with US or EU maps.

There is no new unit that actually fits W209. W209 unit have a Little different shape. You get it in there but you will have a gap.

I'm aware of that but I've seen some pics of that modification and it looks good enough for me. As far as I'm concerned I won't have a gap - in case of W209 it's opposite and I'l need to shave some plastic on the sides if I want that to suit.

By the way I love those AMG shift paddles around the steering wheel. Unfortunately I don't have any shift paddle behind my steering wheel so that upgrade might be difficult to install without any serious (and expensive) modifications.

What about the wiring? Anybody knows which cables will I need to change when upgrading from NTG2 to NTG2.5? Most people change their Audio 20 units...

I'm currently hoping to carry the NTG 2.5 upgrade on my car but these unit and far too expensive. There are currently two of them on ebay priced at £1,250 and thats just wayyy too expensive. Does anyone know of any members that have these units to sell for less?
