Also, if i buy a W211 cluster nothing will work on it? but a w209 will work? Does the w209 cluster need to be petrol if my car is petrol or will a diesel one work?

what about a w203 MY2005+ update cluster will that work with comand 2.5 in the preface-lift w203?

and these clusters fit directly into the preface-lift w203 with no rewiring just a direct swap?

Keep in mind, That the cluster has to be new, or less than 1000 miles on them, You cant buy a used one off ebay or anywhere else. Why? Because your not able to program them after 1000 miles, hints won't work, The 03-04 W209 will work with just programing the miles, the later ones you will need to program it for an older fuel sensor and a couple other things. Same with the 05+ facelift W203.

w203 c200K 2.0 mod 02
the problem i am facing is the following:
car: w203 mod 2002 m111 engine manual
retrofit: facelift center console
ice:audio 20
cluster : clk 63 amg most

problem: star cannot se the cluster or the audio 20 either. However, audio 20 works perfectly and i have steering controls and cluster info.

problem no2: tried to fit an ntg2 command. Star does not see it. I am thinking of trying to code the comand with the old cluster fitted as the cluster seems to make the canbus a mess

ps: the cluster works perfectly (ever single feature except odo of course). the star cannot see the cluster either.

any advice??? (cluster is new)

Its possible (Im just spitballing here) that you need to hook it up to obdII, On the pre facelift there was a wire on audio 10, and the comand 2.0 thats part of the connector that connects it to Obd2. It may need that hooked up before it would read... Thats my guess as i have the same issue even though i don't need the star system.

why wouldnt you need the star???
the cable you are talking about is the canbus and it is already plugged in the appropriate canbus distributor. this is why i have steering controls and cluster info.
As I see it i have 2 options.
1. I will have to code the comand on another MOST car. Then I could easily live without the ability to use star dignose to do thing to the comand. That would be the case if i had a non-oem unit so i can live with it. howevere I should better add any star enabled devices (such as phone kit) before doing the coding

2. I could use an ntg 2.5 unit (audio 20 or comand) I need bluetooth and mp3 more than navi and movies and the audio 20 ntg 2.5 is ridicusly cheap to buy as new. I suspect that i will not need any coding at all!!!

Hi Chris, you are real genius.

What about W163? Appalling cluster, need to be updated with W208/210 cluster with computer display, steering wheel to connect to Comand? Any possibility and what about NTG 2.5 from W164?

Sorry I am asking too much,, as I have asked around everywhere, and everyone went blank!

I mean retrofitting for this model.

Cheers.

Wow this is insane! I so want it...

But one question arises for me, a few mentioned the upgrade isnt worth it.. Taking from your example of 5 hours work, i guess time isnt the issue. Then it comes down to the cost factor.. How much in total did it cost you to fit the whole thing and make it work?

Does anyone know if this approuch would be possible on a 1999 C43? I already have comand 2.0 installed, but would like to upgrade again due to the technology being near obsolete as it was created back in 1998. Would a newer comand talk to the instrument cluster? What all would need to be done? Could climate and instrument cluster be updated as well? Thanks!

I don't know if it has been discussed allready but i have a w209 cluster that i want to put in my 2005 w203.

I already found someone who can program the mileage. Will the rest of it be plug & play and will al the features in the cluster work?

I got my w209 cluster to work in my 2005 w203 200cdi. The mileage still has to be programmed.

But! It doesn't seem to fit :-s i cut of a piece of the plastic in the back but i still have to jam in it and it still sticks out like 2cm.

I thought that it would fit nicely...

Do you have a partnumber and some pictures on how to remove it?

I was thinking about cutting away pieces because it looks like there is allot attached to it from beneath.
