Well interesting enough the ster9ing feels completely different. So smooth and wonderful. It was fine but it was heavy. Now it is very light and precise. The dealer did the alignment so I will pick it up in the morning. Sadly the new dealer I have been going to apparently uses Enterprise to do the loaner cars and since I am under 25 they won't give me the 2012 c classes they have so I am in a 2011 Chevy Aveo LT wow I miss my 10+ Year old Mercedes with 171k on the clock lol

I will say for the price it is an ok car but not a Mercedes. It had to be red and stand out (the guys at work laughed at me so much) That said it is free for 24 hours so I can't complain it got me to work and home tonight. More to come once I get my car back tomorrow
BTW Matt less than two weeks

I know, right. Unfortunately it is looking like I might have to do just a tad bit of homework somewhere over that weeked *$&%*$&$%&%$*

BTW, for the price that is NOT an OK car. Feels like it was assembled at gunpoint.. an old used Toyota or Honda would be much better than a new one of those.

Glad to hear there was a great improvement in "THE C320"'s steering. 171k young.

Well while I have company you can go to the hall and do homework lol
I was referring to a new car matt for the price of a new car it is not bad but you are right I would never buy one.
I drove the c320 home and loved it so much the steering is so much better. and they fixed my tire and rebalanced them but sadly I have one bent rim.

It's a good thing only one of the original rims are bent. The ones you got from me are still perfect until you bang it into a curb. I tell you, the tires I have on my car right now are so crappy.

I loved my ASXs on the Camry, Accord, and TL. But the Benz just doesn't like them at all.

As for how much you want to gamble in Vegas a week from now, that's on you.

So today was a bad car day. Got out of work and get out of the parking lot drive half a block and then **** hit the fan. I got on the main road and a emergency vehicle came so I turned the wheel all the way to the left and got as far over as I could. I then watch the vehicle go by and notice my IC looks like a Christmas tree. I had three errors saying display faulty with esp, bas, and abs. Then a message saying abs is out and also brake lining wear. Strange thing is the the brakes are new but I have gotten this error three times now saying that they are warn so don't no if it is connected or not. Also the car went into limp mode and the speedometer was all over the place from 0-50 while I was going 20 or so and it felt like the brakes were being engaged as well. So I pull over and restart the car all the error go away but two of the display faulty. Then I decided to just get home limp mode was gone so I drove normal. At a stoplight about a mile from home i restarted again and every thing went out but the check engine light. So I got home and got my star computer on it and everything was saying that there was a CAN error and that the speed was either invaluable or communication issue but no definitive issue. So all light are now out and the only strange thing is that the adaptations for the transmission seem to have been deleted because it shifts different. So WTF lol I have no clue what happened but guess that either a speed sensor is going out, a low battery/ alternator giving out, any module going out that deals with esp,abs or bas. Or the car just did not like the cold. So hopefully it was just a computer glitch and it won't come back.

Check your battery. Once that goes you will have all kinds of fault lights.

Battery looks to be fine and is a Mercedes one that is around 1 1/2 years old. Alternator would be my guess if it is power related as it is 11 years old and has 171k on it

The alternator should be simple enough to check. SDS can show the charging voltage and so can dyno mode. The REAL error in all that could have been "display faulty". That would cause everything to go haywire, but not sure how it would cause the transmission adaptations to clear. If the alternator had stopped charging you would have gotten a warning. You should definitely drive around and watch voltage. Someone on here followed that recommendation from me and realized that he was having voltage spikes to 16v causing all sorts of issues.. just a VR.

My car freaked me out recently with its ESP unavailable message.. I can only imagine how freaked out you were.

By the way, I'll see you at the airport tomorrow.

An Aveo wouldn't have these problems, you know.

I'd chalk it up to a one-time gremlin and hope for the best. My BAS/ESP warnings came on last week on a very cold morning too, and haven't come back yet. Ahhh, the pleasures of MB ownership...

MBfinatic - Trey has OEM Bi-xenon, not aftermarket. Also you cannot install those in your car as you have halogens. Those are replacements for OEM HID cars. See my thread 120k update for pics of the BIX that will work for your car.

Because the light output gets weaker as you get away from a daylight-type of bulb (5k, I believe). If you're going 8k, fine, just realize that you're doing it for the color more than you are for light output.

Well my issues is now even worse because I came across a bulletin that talked about water in the esp module plug and open it up and fine this

So while cleaning the esp side with the pins I bed/break one really bad. I got it straight again and plugged it back in and the car is as good as it was where the errors only come up every few days. The problem is I have to now replace that modular but it might not be the reason why I get the error. So I will replace it and the issue could be gone or still be there. The question is what else could cause the issue.

Notice how the abs light goes off and on as well as the speedometer works then stops and so on.
I will say the car has not gone to limp mode since the first time but it is still strange that the car works great for a day or two then it has the issue that is fixed with a restart. BTW the esp/abs and so on works fine when the errors are not up I have not tested them when the errors are displayed. If anyone has any ideas that would be great

So this is the campaign I was talking about I am going to email MBUSA with my pictures and see if they will do anything (I doubt they will but half off the part would be nice ) But it sounds like they knew that water could get down there exactly like what happened to my car.

Campaign - ESP Module Ground Connection Inspection
Campaign No. 2001100003
March 2002

FILE:
SERVICE:
GROUP 00 OF SERVICE INFORMATION BINDER

PARTS:
GROUP I OF INFORMATION - PARTS & ACCESSORIES BINDER

TO: ALL MERCEDES-BENZ DEALERS

SUBJECT:
MODEL 203.061/064/065/264
INSPECTION OF GROUND CONNECTION (W16/3) FOR ESP CONTROL
MODULE (N47-5)

In some cases, on subject vehicles within the effective serial number range chart noted below, it may be possible that the ESP ground cable connector (W16/3, located just forward of the left hand shock tower) (Figure 1) for the ESP control Module (N47-5), was not assembled properly. In addition, the ESP control module harness plug must be checked for moisture intrusion (Figure 4). Please inspect the subject vehicles on the next scheduled service visit, to determine if the ESP ground cable connector has been assembled properly, and to remove any moisture accumulation in the ESP control module harness connector.

Effective Serial Number Range

Checking Ground Connector Assembly and Moisture removal from ESP Harness Plug

Procedure:

1. Prior to performing this Service Campaign, please check VMI to insure the vehicle is involved and to determine if the vehicle has been previously repaired.

2. Loosen ground nut at W16/3 (Figure 1) and remove ESP Control Module ground wire (thick wire), as well as all other wires.

3. Remove heat shrink from cable lug completely, using a suitable tool (Figure 2).

NOTE :take care not to damage the wire insulation when removing heat shrink.

4. Once the heat shrink has been removed from the cable lug, remove the balance (A, Figure 3) of the heat shrink from the ground wire itself.

5. Unplug the ESP harness plug from the ESP Control Module (N47-5), see WIS document AR42.45-P-0820P.

6. Carefully tap the unplugged harness plug against your hand to remove any moisture, additionally, blow out the ESP harness plug with dry compressed air while elevated above the ground cable, for 3 minutes, at the ground pins (arrows, Figure 4), to ensure complete removal of any moisture.

7. Next blow out, with dry compressed air, the multi-pin connector directly at the ESP Control Module, then carefully reconnect the ESP harness plug to the ESP Control Module connector.

8. Install new heat shrink tubing onto ESP Control Module ground wire (thick wire), ensure that the heat shrink tubing stops where removed (A, Figure 2), and does not cover crimped end.

9. Place the 6 x 1.2 mm washer onto the ground stud at W16/3 (1 Figure 1).

10. Install thin ground wires first, then reinstall the ESP ground wire (thick wire) and secure with the previously removed ground nut, observing tightening torque of 10 Nm for the nut.

Hi Trey - got your PM. Sorry I missed this.

It sounds like you might have a faulty ESP module but you require to check.

1) All ESP related wiring & plugs for corrosion (you have started. I like using CRC switch/electrical cleaner)
2) All items interrogated by the ESP - your Star should help.
3) All ABS wheel sensors
4) Lateral force or Yaw sensor
5) Steering angle sensor SAS
6) ESP off switch
7) ESP control unit

Good luck & make that Star do some work. Make sure your grounding is good!!!
