Got some HIDs for xmas, question about installation

Hi all. I recieved an HID kit for christmas for my c230 sport and i have a question about the installation for those of you that have HID kits on your cars.

Where do you mount the Ballasts? Just wondering what others are doing to see if one location works better than others. Thanks in advance for answers/opinions.

try to put 'em on the crash bar

anywhere is fine tho really.......just make sure that they 1)won't fall off, 2) won't get wet, and 3) all the wires can reach

and for the driver's side lo beam make sure it isn't near the ECU/ESP stuff

Thanks for the response. i also noticed that they come with double-sided tape. From your experience, is that strong enough to hold them or do they need to be screwed into the car body? Thanks again.

Mine has not fallen off yet. You just have to be sure to clean and prep the surface first before using the tape. Clean it with rubbing alcohol first then scuff the surface with some sand paper or Red 3M Scotch-Brite. I also used a wire tie on the wires just in case.

Use the double-sided tape and it ABSOLUTELY WILL fall off eventually regardless of how well you prep it. Do not simply use that. At least secure it with zip-ties in addition to the tape.

Anyway, thanks again for the link.

So I finally got my HIDs installed. The color is exactly what I was going for. However, they point really high and it seems like it would blind oncoming traffic and squirrels in the trees. Its been a pain trying to adjust it just right. I'm also trying to get rid of the dark spots on the road they put out and aim it properly. It is pretty scattered unfortunately. I'm considering taking them off unless I can get them aimed properly. I also had to drill a 1" hole instead of a 3/4" hole because thats the only way I could get the wires and bulb to fit through and I secured it using zip ties. The tape was completely useless even though I cleaned the area. I'll post pics if I can somewhow adjust them to my liking.

Just an update, my set has not come out so great. It has a horrible dark spot on the driver side that is driving me insane. i think i'll call hidextra.com and see what they can do for me. i've tried adjusting the light beam pattern and can't get rid of the hotspot. Add to that the terrible scatter and I think i've got no choice but to take em off the car. Sux for me. Also, PnP is not really PnP because of that hole i had to drill into my dust caps.
