Isn't this old news? Look under Free Work Recall or something like that in the W203 forum. And yes, they replace a couple of cam sensors and add these little extensions. I've posted pictures.

^ People are talking about 2002. I really have no idea as I am only aware of this problem affecting 2003-2005. Best bet is call the dealer as they have the official list. Good luck.

So, let the weather warm up to mid-60s, and it'll be time to swap things out and enjoy the brightness of the new lcd, for at least a couple of years, hopefully.

So let me get this right. MB will replace the cam sensor and add a pigtail, because the old sensor leaks oil that in turn wicks up the main cable assembly and having a possibility of contaminating the ECU with oil. So if your main cable assembly and ECU are already contaminated with oil they will leave it as-is. How about the owners that have electrical issue because of oil contaminated ECU caused by this sensor? Are we flipping the bill for a new Cable assembly and ECU?
Has anyone had a oil contaminated cable assembly and ECU?
Did MB address the issue with you during the sensor service?

Good news… MB will be replacing the my oil contaminated engine cable harness, o2 sensor and ECU at no charge. Basically everything that was contaminated by the faulty cam sensor.

Hey, i just bought a 2002 Mercedes C230 K and I have this funny raddling noise coming from the engine. The mechanic said it could either be the lifters or the camshaft. We looked up recall for this car. And there you go, there is a recall on the C-230K for camshaft adjustment.
Sorry, by now this story is a thing of the past with your car.

Yes you do buddy, call the dealer and tell them you have a used mercedes and have your vin number ready, they will tell you if the recall job has been performed on your car and if not, they will ask you to schedule a appointment to go take care of it. It will take about 3 to 4 hours i think....

MB w 203 recall 2009100001
Yes, I received this notice and want to left you know MB will repair the car. A word of caution, however, engine oil gets forced up, in and through the wiring harness that connects to the car's computer module. After several hours at MB dealership, I was told repairs were completed. I trust no one, so I opened the hood and inspected the wiring harness. The dealership never inspected this and I pointed out that oil was inside the wiring harness and had seeped into the control module connections. They looked at me and advised me it was just a little oil. I asked if the car had been designed to have oil in the wiring harness and if this was what MB expected of the repairs made under the recall. I did not get an answer, as my question was rhetorical, except to be told the car would be needed a full day to change the wiring harness. Check the work before you agree that all damage was repaired. I am sure my dealer was just lazy and not necessarily dishonest.

C230K Sport Coupe
Resurrecting an OLD thread here, but I recently purchased an '02 C230K Coupe and chanced on this thread. I'll be calling the dealer tomorrow to inquire about my car and see if it has already had this and any other necessary recall work done. This forum has quickly become amazingly helpful!
This made me laugh.
I'm glad they took care of for you.

Hopefully this work has already been done to my car then so I don't have to take it in. On the other hand, I love driving this car so much any excuse is enough to get me out the door and down the road.

Had the check engine come on last week after paying 500 bucks to get the door lock replaced
1,000 to fix the sunroof which broke again the next day, then 800 to fix sunroof again (not done yet)
A bunch of other pricey stuff in the middle and finally...
Three years after the same dealer replaced my wiring harness, my check engine light comes on and I get told 900 bucks for a new computer that they code at the dealer, and I'm not even sure if that includes the labor for plugging the computer in....
Can a used one be bought and just have them code it at the dealer? I was told they can code these things at the dealer now.
