Re: Argos and MOST

I have an '06 C280 4matic. I was told yesterday that it is close. I'm on the list at www.eurocarphone.com . You may want to give them a call.

I've been on their list since June. From what I've seen around the web, the engineering appears to be complete. Seems as though the hold-up now is in manufacturing.

Thanks

I wanted to say thanks to Peleli. His instructions and pictures truly helped with my install of the system on my CLK 320. As well as saved me $100 to have someone to install for me. I owe you some drinks!! While the install was slightly different for my CLK, it gave me the basics of what I should be looking for.

The system works great with my SE w810 phone and the reception on both ends is great.

Thanks again.

Couldn't be any easier guys! I installed mine in about 10 minutes and I suffered a stroke and am missing half my right arm. Note if you have a telephone already attached to ur car there is one less $50 cable to buy! It works very well besides at times when i make calls it won't activate in car. Great range to but if you are getting your car washed then you have to turn blue tooth signal off cause it will work in the car but you won't hear it in the celphone if the car is on and the system paired. eurocarphone.com

Thanks to Peleli for the instructions!

I bought a forum member's Argos Bluetooth setup and, since I have the UHI phone from MBenzNL, I was able to install the Argos Bluetooth setup in no time flat. Literally unplug the MB telephone module and plug in the Argos module. That's all.

Now getting my Blackberry 7100t to pair-up was another matter. My Blackberry wouldn't recognize the Argos and I tried for like 30 minutes. Finally I updated the OS in my Blackberry to version 4.0.xx (downloadable from T-Mobile's support site) and that did the trick. It took a few minutes as Peleli said, but finally it paired.

The phone works great - I don't have any of the echo or static-filled calls. I wonder if that might be a problem from the built-in microphone in the car? But since my MBenzNL phone worked great, I knew the microphone wouldn't be a problem. The Argos Bluetooth kit works fine and, at least for now, am happy with it. But as C32used stated, you'll want to make sure you turn Bluetooth off if you're going to be near the car with the key in the ignition (such as at a carwash...)

Bob

Guys, I used to have the Argos kit. The install is very clean, but the person on the other side heard way too much road noise. I switched over to a Pioneer AVIC-Z1 with bluetooth kit. The Pioneer kit is lightyears ahead in sound quality on both sides. There used to be an issue with echo, but a software update fixed it.

The Argos kit isn't cheap, and you could pay for a significant amount of a Z1 conversion with that money.

Now I will admit I have no such issues and I do feel that the Argos kit is expensive but when I noticed it on a members aviator then I didn't do any search just bought the first system I heard of. JGSX do a write up when you can so others have choices on this forum. Maybe I should have searched but I didn't for that but if I would of heared of it then I would of researched it...........nothings better then saving $$$!

I don't know if you fixed or resolved the issue but that clicking if its coming from the drivers side under the dash is a common problem on the C class its either the ac motor or the ac vent link. If you have warranty that should be covered if not I heard its like 600+.

That's a good price IMO.

I guess I didn't realize that there would be a difference in the fiber optic cabling in '02 versus '03. It should be relatively straight-forward once you locate the right fiber optic lines. (It requires an additional fiber optic cable if you didn't already know that.) Are you sure you want to sell at nearly half-price instead of trying to give install another (last) shot?

is 03 the one year that is different? I know that the install in 02 and 04 is identical.

Can someone confirm that the B6 656 0657 is enough for a C240 D2B car, which has no pre-wiring ? Do I need anyelse (except the phone and cradle)
I am looking for the UHI kit for my European C240 car, which will give me Bluetooth capability

Tozfeekum, the fiber optic cables will be in the right side of the trunk (passenger side) and runs down to the trunk floor (in front of the spare tire.)

1) In the coupes, you'll want to pull out the spare tire cover (carpeted) and remove the two star bolts holding down the tie-down rings. Once you do that, you can lift up the plastic and see the fiber optic cables.

2) Remove the passenger side carpeted panel. There are 3 push-in type pins that hold it in. You'll want to use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry up on the middle of the push-pins. Once it's up, you can pull out the pins. Two of the pins are near the spare tire, the third is up near where the parcel shelf rests (upside down.)

3) (this is where I'm guessing because I am responding from work. I'll verify at home tonight) You'll want to find the "Telephone In" and (on my car) "Amp" out fiber optic cables and plug in your extension. (My car has Bose, so I think that's why it was wired to the AMP instead of Radio cable end.) There's only one way to plug in those connectors, so you should be pretty safe.

4) Run the fiber optic cable carefully (do not bend them) to the right-rear fender. Find the 25 pin connector (looks like a printer's serial port) and plug that into the Argos unit. It will not "click" in, but the fitting will be fairly snug. Next, take the fiber optic connector and fit it into the Argos unit.

5) Now go to the driver's seat, turn to accessories and turn on the radio. Select Telephone, then press SEND. This gives you two options: Connect or Pair Phone. Select Pair Phone. This is where it gets fun. Apparently it takes a while for the Bluetooth pairing to work. In my case, it was like 30 minutes of trying. But eventually it will pair. Once paired, it works great.

If you need photos, let me know and I'll try to take some this weekend.

Bob

Tozfeekum, here's pics of which lines were connected to the fiber optic extension in my car. Looks like you should use "Sound 2 In" and "Radio Out"

Here's photos of what all the lines connected look like, where it's routed to (behind the Bose subwoofer), and how it looks connected to the Argos module.

This is a photo of the remaining fiber optic lines in the trunk floor (in front of the spare tire and under the black plastic trim piece.)

Hope this helps!
