Rear wheel bearing how too???
Ok located the scrapping sound my right rear wheel bearing is done. I can grab the top and bottom of the tire and it has about 1/8" of movement NONE side to side just top to bottom I can also move it when wheel is off useing the rotor
anyways has anyone here done the rear wheel bearing on a 2003 c240 4matic?? wagon

you're gonna need an impact gun to get the nut off of the hub to get to the wheel bearing. You can get the service manual cd from the MB dealership for a pretty good price. But i think theres a thread around here on how to do it. did you try the search function?

if you manage to do this please make sure that you get us a detailed DIY............feom the drawing it looks like a simple task.........i am gusing you might need a special tool to remove and seat the bearing............

I need to replace the backing plate, but the wheel hub diameter is larger than the plate center hole so I can't get it over. Does anyone know if the wheel bearing is pressed on both the inside (hub) and outside (knuckle) races, or just one? I was hoping to slide the axle in and then slide out the bearing or hub to put the new plate on and then bolt it back up together.
I ordered the service manual DVD last week from Mercedes but with 2 days of ice on the roads I figure my package is going to get delayed.

I never did do this the dealer did and the bearing was so stck they broke my hub....... and tried to make me pay for them breaking my car
I ended up getting it all covered but if its 4matic you need a special puller

Are you talking about the front or rear bearing? (I noticed you said 4matic). I'm wondering about the rear

I don't see what would be so different about a RWD vs. 4matic when it comes to the rear wheel bearing?
I did find a new post on a UK forum from November where a guy did detail that the bearing is pressed on the inner and outer races (he was also replacing the rear backing plate, his due to rust through). He said he removed all the links to the knuckle to put the entire knuckle in a press. Then the bearing ended up falling apart after removal, so a new one is required on each side as well.
I think I'm going to make a small cut in my new plates and bend the heck out of it until I get it to slide into place. I really don't want to risk something going wrong with the links/axles/bearings/differential.
