Renncpe, questions from one of your previous posts...

From your post to the thread "German Evo II C230k coupe suspension", could you go into more detail for us on what suspension options you've already tried? What setup was harsh, what are you running now, and what's coming next week? Interested in the manufacture, cost, what you liked and didn’t like, etc. Basically anything and everything you can tell us.

The first one I did was H&R, in all fairness they were not for the Coupe. There was not a spring out in early august. The spring height was just right but the stock shocks and struts could not handle the rebound resulting in a bobbing (excessive spring oscillation) effect after a dip or bump.

The one I have now is made by Apex / Fichtel & Sachs it is a matched set of progressive springs and shocks and struts. The ride is awesome I mean night and day difference. The bounding is gone and the control at speed is wonderful. The only complaint is the ride height it is lowered compared to stock but not quite were I want it.

The one coming will use the same springs and struts but with a slightly lower spring set, from the same manufacture. That should be just right for my taste. I also ordered a heaver sway bar kit for the front and back. I will let you know how it all turns out.

Thanks for the great info! Is the Apex kit made especially for the Coupe, or did they just adapt an existing one. If heard of Apex, but my last recollection was that they did Honda's, Toyota's, etc. No offence, just curious. Keep us posted on how it goes.

H&R now makes springs for the coupe

heres the info from their website H&R

C230 Sport Coupe W203 2002-up 8 1.4 1.3 52792 359.00 kit

these should work and they should lower the car 1.4mm and 1.3mm Front/Rear respectively

I think the other company is A'pexi, no I did not have to get an over sized wing with the spring set.

The sets that I'm trying now are made to spec for Renntech, but the pricing is still in line with other companies products. The new set sells for around 1200.00 complete springs, shocks and struts I'm not in front of the price book, but they come assembled so the labor time is greatly reduced, The fronts can be changed in 30 min easy (our Renntech guy did it in less) a side the backs are not much worse.

I would hope that they mean 1.4 inches and 1.3 inches.
mm would be really, really small. :p

When are we going to get with the program and convert to metric already? I can't wait to start saying length in mm instead of inches.

So is this picture a picture of the 2nd kit you recieved from Renntech? Do they only make one kit now?
I like the clean drop of this ride.

Was the H&R Kit higher than the Renntech kit?

Thanks for the pic. This is definately a clean drop. The progressive Renntech springs + shocks should be an awesome setup.

Can I get part #s/URLs for the kits used on that car?

That looks very nice, and getting a matched set like that would definitely improve the handling performance. Just the right amount of drop too, so that the tires are right in the middle of the wheel well, but not sunken in. Thumbs up!
