Been using redline products in both manual transmission and rear differential on my 2006 c230 m272 for 2 years now (23k miles). After first month , transmission started shifting slot smoother. This "approved" list is a big BS!

Mercedes spend a fortune testing & approving lubricants & fluids that are suitable for the vehicles that they design. The oil industry spends a fortune developing products that meet their requirements & some wisea$$ yankee says it's BS.
Having been closely involved with this approval program over an oilco career spanning nearly 40 years I can assure you it's not BS

I can't find anything on Mobil's page, is Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lubricant LS 75W-90 approved by MB? I see in 235.7 what looks like a standard Mobilube 75w-85 but no mention of a synthetic.

Reason: added question
good list but i went thru this, this summer in Canada NONE on the MB approved gear oil is available even the dealers use whatever they can get I called 7 different dealers and they use 3 different oils NONE of them on the list
The only way to get approved oil for me was by the 55gal drum or case lot which would have cost me $300.00 + hazmat shipping
Having just become a 2005 E55 AMG owner I looked at the "Factory Approved Service Products September 2004" booklet that came with the car. It mentions MB Hypoid Gear Oil (85W-90) as "Meets sheet 235.7 specification".
As this was published in 2004, I presume your advice to look at sheet 235.7 recommendations reflects changes for recommended oil in the past 14 years.

So, 75W-85 differential oil it is for my 2005 E55 AMG. Will be changing soon as have no record of being changed by previous owner.
The old 2004 recommendation was Hypoid 85W-90.

My dealer told me just use any decent GL5 oil.
I mean, it's just gears and bearings. Nothing in there that needs anything special.
I've used Castrol Hypoy C 80w-90 twice in my rear differential at 100K and 200K
245K Miles and no issues with the diff.
Man the original old stuff at 100K smelled like whale barf and was thin and
watery on draining.

No, they don't. In fact, oil companies pay a royalty fee to maintain approval status. They submit against the same modest specs that other manufactures meet. Nothing special about a gear oil that works in every other vehicle on Earth.
So, the story you told is untrue. You don't even understand the approval process.
"Premium Performance fuel-economy passenger car axle fluid offering increased gearbox efficiency in passenger cars due to low viscosity level. Reduces fuel consumption"
The fluid and spec book worship is OUT OF HAND with Mercedes drivers.
At least Fuchs is a good product that wont allow corrosion:
I have a quart of Mobil 1 75w-90 that will get topped off with 140, because that's what I already have. Gear oil is BORING. Let's talk GL-4 Manual Trans Fluid if you want to see fireworks.

What am I looking at here? Well at least the Hypoy C I've used for years seems to look good in the photo.
But what is the photo?
What's up with the Lucas stuff? Black. I'm guessing it's burnt?
Titan Sintopoid sounds like some creature that roamed the earth some millions of years ago, who's remains can be found at the bottom of the La Brea tar pits.
