"Hot country"/"Cold country" settings

"Hot country"/"Cold country" settings

I am living in a "hot" country in SE Asia, am have two Benz: an C240 and an C200K (M271). Recently by using a developer Stardiag , I found that both of cars is set in "Cold country" mode. The guy, who has the developer Stardiag changed the settings to "hot country", which make engine temperature of cars drop quite a bit:

Before, when it is in "Cold country" mode
the C240 has 100ºC - 105ºC (212F-221F) when outside temp is 30ºC-40ºC (86F-104F)
the C200K has 95ºC-100ºC (203F-212F)

After, when it is in "hot country" mode
the C240 has 88ºC - 89ºC (190F-192F) when outside temp is 30ºC-40ºC (86F-104F)
the C200K has 77ºC-78ºC (170F-172F)

Beside that Air-condition runs much cooler.

I serached about this topic and could not find any information. Anyone here know this and can share more detail about the setting ? Anything damage may happend if the cars had run more than 7 years with the wrong setting ?

Interesting, never heard of those settings. Did gas mileage or power change any?

105C sounds HOT. My car never goes above 80-90C, even when beating it hard. A few degrees shouldn't change things too much, though that would be enough for the coolant to boil obviously. But a pressure relief valve (which our cars do have) would prevent any damage.

After change the settings: both cars run smoother, climate control is cool faster, cooling fan run more ( i think it start at lower tempeture due to the settings).

There is a different between cars: the c240 engine temp is 89oC and the C200k (m271) is 78oC . The guy said , C240 engine temp can be down to under 80 by replace a double size radiator (2-row radiator). Iam trying to get its P/N. Maybe it is C32s, i am checking

For people is in "hot" area : what is your engine temp ?

But did your gas mileage or power change? A cooler running engine isn't necessarily a good thing. It may be running cooler due to changes in fuel metering and timing which have optimum temperature ranges for efficiency which in turn affects gas mileage and power. An engine running too cool.....like perpetually in warm up mode....will have excessive carbon deposits along with less power.
