Help.. 2002 c230 coupe engine shuttering going up hill or 60 miles an hour
2002 c230 Kompressor coupe with 82,000 miles on it
i hope someone can help...
Here's what I know:
runs fine driving around the city (under 2000 rpm's) if i go uphill or push it a little it will shutter.. Sounds like when you drive over those bumps on the side of the freeway .. Seems like it's cutting out.. I haven't been getting any cel codes so that doesn't help..
Here's what I tried:
Replaced the spark plugs
Reseting the transmission computer
Ran a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it
cleaned MAF (there was oil in the ducting pipe) need to know whats causing that too
new air filter
No joy
i hope someone can help...

one or both of the catalytic converter may have been clogged partially. Take the car to an exhaust repair place and have them check it.

I think I'm now having a similar problem,
no code nothing but when I kicked down uphill, it is not a smooth acceleration.
feels like it was going over small bumps shortly.
any exhaust repair place should do? or should I go see a stealer-ship?

Thanks for all the input so far... Cleaning the MAF didn't help.. I think the PVC hose that connects to the supercharger needs to be replaced to get rid of the oil in the ducting and MAF area.. at least thats what I have been reading on this site.. If the Catalitc converters are clogged.. how do you clean them , if you can ?

You can't clean the catalytic converters. If they are indeed clogged, they will need to be replaced. Look for after market (generic) catalytic converters. They cost much less than the MB c.converters.
Fuel Filter/pressure (as suggested by Glen, above) should also be checked. When was the last time fuel filter was changed on this car? If it hasn't been changed in the last 30K miles, I suggest you change the fuel filter.

IC.. Not sure on the fuel filter .. I'll have to check my service records. I used to get my service done at the dealer but they jacked me around on the cam positioning oil leak recall.. They told me they replaced the wiring harness and didn't.. I have had to periodically clean remaining oil residue from the connectors to get rid of error codes.. Very un-professional.. Will any replacement filter work or is it best to get OE filter ? Thanks for your help

Bosch Fuel Filter is around $35 on AutohausAZ dot com and slightly higher price on RMeuropean dot com. You will have no problem with Bosch Fuel Filter.

Thanks .. I think i'll try the filter first since it's $40 to have the cats checked and It's more then likely time to replace this filter anyway..

What kind of tires do you have?
I have this horrible noise at speed, goes away if I go 80 mph.
I thought a wheel bearing, or diff, or worse!
Took it to my mechanic, and he said it's just the damn tires!
I was trying to save a few $$ and bought Federal tires.
Man are they noisey!
Was I relieved!
If you have 82K miles and original fuel filter, yeah, change that for sure.

You must use a proper Benz filter - Bosch. It contains the fuel pressure regulator. You can't just use any old filter.

Yeah I thought it might be the tires at first since I had just gotten some new Yokohama's put on. I took it back to the tire place and had them check the balancing and such.. They re-balanced everything and it still does it.. It is Definitely cutting out it's like a power surge. On the freeway i can get it to stay in that cutout zone and the noise pulsates along with the power surge.. nice.. I will order the Bosch fuel filter for sure.. Thanks
P.S don't buy Kuhmo tires they suck I got 16,000 miles on the ones I had.. very lame indeed..

yuck!
I just did the service B thing with a famous indy. I think they put a correct filter in it.
According to my bill, it says
Oil Filter Kit [CART] 271 180 01 09 $16.68
Oil, 5W30 TOTAL Synthetic, 5W30E $69.65
Can it be related to O2 sensor, my is already 100K kilometers

Update... Changed the fuel filter... no improvement.. Took it to a mechanic today and he ran some tests and drove it.. he turned off the torque converter and the vibration noise went away... not good.. Trans fluid level is good.. fluid looks a little dirty.. he's not sure if the fluid is contaminated or not with anti-freeze.. Thinking about having the fluid changed and seeiing if the solves the problem.. any idea's .. he also looked at the trans computer and there was a little oil on the connectors.. but the unit was clean inside... arghhh don't know what to do now...

Laidbackat, did you solve your problem. How was it fixed. I have the same problem and I did partial flush of Tranny fluid but that didn't help. Would you please let us know how you ended up fixing your issue?
Thanks
