BestBuy experience
Guys,
I've been searching around but havent found any reviews or inputs about purchasing subs, amp, box with installation in bestbuy.
Has anyone ever purchase with them and had it installed at the same time?
good or bad reviews? any info is appreciated.
Thank you

I think it depends on the store. When I lived in Dallas - Best Buy were useless at all the stores I knew at car audio.
If you can afford it, fit a JL Audio active sub in it's own properly designed enclosure. You won't be sorry.

+1 on what Glyn said.
Many years ago when I was a young lad, I use to work for BestBuy. The employee discount was amazing so I had them install subs and amp. You could have heard the alternator in the speakers. After making me buy many "filters" and the sound still not going away I took it to an audio shop. They tuned the amp and I was on my way.
You just have to get lucky and find someone who knows what their doing.

i had them do a basic head unit install just because I was too lazy to figure out all the wires and where they went. Everything went well. But yes they are as a whole, idiots!

I have had one good install and one train wreck from Best Buy. Like the others have said, it really depends on the luck of the draw. I would talk to the actual installer before making your decision.

The people who work at Green Acres best buy are really cool when we put on the remote start on my moms explorer they installed it for free they told us everything upfront. No suprises.

You own a luxury Mercedes that has a sensitive, tricky, and expensive MOST fiber optic system. In fact, the entire car's electrical system is delicate and finicky. This is slightly different than your standard copper wire system found in older or basic cars. I suggest you take it to a high end luxury car audio shop that has specific experience in newer Mercedes vehicles. The last thing you need to is to have a dead vehicle inside the Best Buy install bay.

Yes - Good advice - be careful. If they don't understand the operation of the MOST fiber optic ring fitted to post facelift cars don't let them touch it.

Thank for all the advice guys. Very useful information. The best thing i can probably do is just get parts from them, if i do decide to, but have a high end shop make the install.
Again, thanks for all the info.

Just the luck of the draw. Had an aftermarket head unit installed, they broke a couple of parts while removing what was necessary & ended up gluing it up with crazy glue. ![action](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/action1.gif)
Either do it yourself if you have confidence in your DIY abilities or take it to a reputable shop. Like everyone says, audio in a Mercedes is something to be taken seriously.
But do take advantage of the 0% at Best Buy if your the type to carry a balance.

1999 CLK320 (sold), 2007 C230 SS (gone), 2000 Grand Marquis, 2011 CR-Z, stay tuned...
That's actually the name of an audio shop in my area...
As for the install, get someone who knows what they're doing. I'm lucky enough to have a friend who has done audio installs on everything from Hondas to a few Ferraris, and I still stood over him and watched like a hawk (and double-checked some things with DIYs from this site and install university). Ask their experience and see if they can show you what they are currently working on or any examples of previous work... and ask about their warranty.

I actually worked for bestbuy at one point and i can tell you they see a few new installers. there are some upsides to using them, the installer must be certified thru MECP ( nationally recognised), they have corperate backing and the best insurance you can imagine. I saw a few car come in and have to be towed off, but always by the dealer. when they run into problems they have it fixed right, and quick. The down side is that it really does depend on who your installer is, ask them how they feel about working on a MB, they should tell you up front, they are ususally out spoken, and will let you know if they are comfortable wirking on the car. I know that the luxury shop around here has had a few car turn up dead and at that point the best they do is say the work they performed is free and you get to keep the product, however your responcible for the tow and the repair.
In all actuallity thou if your just having an amp and sub installed its a pretty simple service. be mindfull of the amp choice and it will be much easier for intergrating. look for an amp with high level in (speaker level) and also a signal sensing turn on. it will cost a bit more but it means your radio never comes out of the dash and the installer only has to tap into the speaker wires... which he could probably do blindfolded.
Any way good luck and post some pics if you get the wirk done...
