P0410 Code Sc
Hey guys, i been having issues with my sc. It turns on when i delete the p0410 error code, but after a week my car goes into limp mode again then the engine check light comes on. I have a loss of acceleration and can not hear my sc working. Although, when i clear the code it comes back on again.
Does anyone know why this is happening ? Is it a sensor issue or what

P0410 = Secondary Air Injection System Malfunction (i.e. emissions control)
Please explain what you mean by "It turns on when i delete the p0410 error code" The SC is not clutched on Benz 4 cylinder engines so it can't turn off. It just dumps any overboost.

my car basically goes into limp mode when the check engine light comes on with the p04 code. It does not accelerate and you can not hear the supercharger winning up when you go into higher rpm
Although when you clear the code, the car starts accelerating normally and you can hear the supercharger whining up

Inlet (intake) Air Temperature. If these are too high your intercooler coolant pump may be on the blink...

Please note that the IAT sensors have nothing to do with the code you are throwing.
The Secondary Air Injection system pumps air (oxygen) into the exhaust to heat the Cats & improve their effectiveness. The secondary air pump seldom fails but the wiring sometimes plays up but most likely is failure of the SAI solenoid - I would check this first & the fuse.
Pray it is the $20 solenoid because I've seen this problem be the ECU once everything else has been sorted.
I will try & work out where that solenoid is - I only know V6
Please confirm you have M111 engine

Sorry - This is all I can find for now & if you have an M111 engine this is possibly wrong for you.
Secondary Air Injection relay is in position "O" in the front SAM

I have continued to do some reading on the UK forum & it appears that this is a fairly common problem on the M111. The problem manifests exactly as you explain & the engine goes into limp.
Please read this thread. It all starts making some sense at page 3. The combination of the two dealer comments on pages 3 & 4 would seem to be the answer.
If you are not a technical person then I strongly recommend taking this car to someone that know's Benz engines well & has a Star DAS
http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/sh...ight=p2036-001
Good luck & let us know how you go.
Funnily enough they don't mention the SAI solenoid. We have found this to be the problem on many SA cars. In fairness - many have not had the M111 engine.
Please note that a P2036-001 is the same code as a P0410

The more I read about this problem the more interesting it becomes. It can be a number of issues unfortunately & it seems that running the SAI sequence with Star will generally give you a good idea which component is playing up in the system but can also be misleading.
Found many references to the air pump & solenoid. They do not apply to the M111 engine - only M271, 112, 113 etc which have a separate secondary air injection pump which is triggered by the solenoid.
On the M111 - (failure triggers limp)
Quote "the secondary air injection on this model works off the super charger and 2 throttle actuators which will divert supercharged air from the intake manifold to the exhaust by way of a diverter valve (that silver round thing just behind the top throttle actuator with a single vac hose on top in between 2 hoses) which helps speed the warm up of the cats and O2 sensor to go into closed loop as fast as possible. The engine computer (ME) controls this function by inputs of the coolant sensor. the problem I’ve seen with the m111 engine (supercharged in line 4) is the diverter valve gets jammed with carbon, not enough vac supplied to open the valve, or the throttle actuator goes out of whack or looses its position (may need to be relearned) on start up the ME sends signal out for 2nd air inj. and needs to see the O2 oscillation in a specific time frame or it sets a check engine light. I had 2 car that all I did was pour barrymens b12 (can buy fuel injection cleaner at any auto store) a little at a time on the intake side of air diverter valve to try and unstick, relearned the throttle angle (done at dealer with HHT, SDS) and the sys worked fine but the shot gun repair of replace everything will be way expensive, start simple and cheap first !!! When in doubt take to a dealer" unquote.
BTW - It seems that a burst or leaking intercooler also throws this code.

Just to add to this, I just went through the P0410 (P2036-001) code issue, which we reset and ended up reappearing. After eliminating a few other things, the tech went for "Recirculation Actuator is hanging up intermittently" and we went for the expensive option of replacing the "supercharger recirculation air flap actuator."
1110980050 Recirculation Actuator
1661410180 Gasket
1110182982 Hose
And all of about a quarter hour labor! Just the damn part that is expensive.
I am attaching a picture of the offending part, I didn't feel like unwrapping it, so they may not be the best pictures in the world.

Could you please email me this info? For some reason I do not have authorization to open the PDF file. acrofga@bellsouth.net THANKS for you time!!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I was able to open it here. I have been dealing with this for over 2 months. I am going to attempt working this today. Thanks again. I will let you know how things work out for me.
I am also having another issue with the car to and hope you can help ONT MISS. I replaced the after market radio that was installed with the original radio again because I was getting a draw and it was killing the battery. Now even with the car off the blower mtor for the ac/heat keeps running and the switches are not working except the REC button. Any ideas what that might be? I am new to the MB world and this car is kicking my a$$. Thanks again for the info on the code.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Before you spend money on a new recirc valve unit, you should try this....
AF07.61-P-2000-01A Learning in recirculated air flap
actuator
ENGINE 111.981 in
MODEL 203.747
1 When ignition is switched off press flap slightly past limphome
position. (which just means, push it with your finger from it's normally closed position with the engine off)
90° position must be changed manually. The processor
shut-off delay has a duration of approx. 5 seconds.
2 Switch on ignition for approx. 15 seconds, switch ignition (don't start the car)
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.
(You will hear the engine electricals shut down)
3 Switch ignition on for approx. 45 seconds, switch ignition
back off again and wait for processor shut-off delay.
The learn-in procedure for the recirculated air flap is then
completed.

Nice pdf ontmiss. I'm saving it to my files. EMRliguidlife had this problem, it's the reason I keep an OBD code reader
in the glove box, just in case.

well no joy on the repairs. everything is working 4.0 acording to all the posts here. The only thing I can not find is the diverter valve. I pulled the air box completely out and there is nothing there in the front of the engine or on the passenger side. I am really thinking this is going to be an ECU problem. Codes keep popping up from 3 codes to 6 codes to 5 codes and so on. I should only have 2 for the lights on the drivers side.

the recirc valve unit that you are talking about, is it the piece under the air box area? If so, my engine is ice cold and it is in the wide open setting. When I pushed on it to see if there was any sticking or binding it went down and you heard something of an actuator noise and it returned to full open again.
