Brembo Brake upgrade anyone?

I have a set of four piston Brembo Calipers that are a direct bolt on for C/SLK/CLK/Crossfire. They will fit a 330mm that is 28mm thick (C350 Sport). They are natural gray with white "Mercedes Benz" lettering. These can be painted silver (or any color) and AMG/Mercedes Benz/Brembo lettering is available on Ebay. I bought these from a guy that said they were CLK500 which uses a 345mm rotor but he was wrong. I was hoping to upgrade to 345 becuase I am doing a 330mm SLK55 rear rotor setup and want the front rotors to be larger than the rear. SLK32 rotors will not work with these as SLK32 uses a 32mm thick rotor.

Here are some pictures... Clips and pins are included but you will need new pads.

Maybe others on here know for sure, but I have the same set up on my Crossfire and believe you you would need at least 17" wheels and a wheel design that allows for a thicker caliper.

You would need C350 rotors with these calipers.

GLWTS..you are correct in that minimum 17" diameter wheel is correct. 16" won't fly..

$200 plus $25 shipping. I also want to clarify that you will need C350 Sport rotors. these are 330mm (12.99") and 28mm thick. The calipers are complete except pads. the ones that came with them were ready to be replaced.

I agree with Greg.

BTW, these would be a perfect upgrade for you Greg, and you could do it at night since you're not sleeping anyway

I have a similar set up on my car. I bead blasted mine and then painted them AMG silver. I then added the AMG lettering for the C32/C55 look. This is a great upgrade for any car that has smaller brakes or who has the ugly floating calipers. Also changing pads is very easy with these fixed calipers. I have listed them on Ebay for a slighly lower price of $220 shipped. I would really like to see these gone soon as I just bought another set of calipers to go to 345mm on the front of my car. I am doing this because I am working on a 330mm rear brake set up and want my fronts to be larger than my rears.

How long have you had the v8? Were you able to tune your stock ecu to accomodate?

Is it a monster? Track times?

very cool.

Yes it is a a very fun monster. You cannot adapt a V6 ECU to a V8. The V6 ECU looks the same but is missing drivers for the extra coils and injectors of a V8. I programed the donor V8 ECU to my car. It took me two years to figure out how to do this. but the approach i took makes MB engine swaps very doable. There is guy on the Crossfire forum using this approach to put 55 Kompressor engines into Crossfires and other MB cars. A Crossfire/R170/SLK with a 55K is the ultimate monster and will blows the doors off of a SLK55 and just about anything else MB makes. the power to weight ratio is amazing.

Very interesting!

Is there someplace to read up on this approach to tuning the appropriate ecu for MB engine swaps? Any mention of engine swaps around these parts arent even mentioned as automatic replies regarding the near impossibility of getting the tuning down.

I am very used to those replies as well. Everyone who doesn't know what they are talking about will tell you it is impossible or to sell your car and buy the car that came with your engine choice. I refused to listen. You can read my V8 conversion diary on the Crossfire forum or I can save you some time and tell you that you can reprogram the donor ECU with the MB Star Diagnotic system. To do this you have to unlock the stock ECU and use the Star DAS system in developer mode to reprogram. The cool thing about developer mode is this is what MB uses to build prototypes and fine tune pre-production cars. Developer mode is in every system but you need a special key to open it up. The key is available from JC Recordings and on their website they have information on developer mode. The down side is that developer mode in only in German and not real easy to use. Rudy Compart (RCompart) on the Crossfire forum is one of the only people who know how use developer mode effectively. He recently programmed an ECU for a couple of guys in this site. One was a 55K into a CLS500 and the other is a V8 to V12 conversion. Upgrading your brakes is a very good idea with this kind of swap. So who is going to buy my calipers?

Here is the ultimate monster 55K Crossfire:

The programing is slightly easier in a SLK R170 because it you don't have to get the donor ECU to accept a Chrysler Vin number which I managed to do but wasn't fun. Imagine a R170 SLK with a supercharged 55! Not many MB's would be able to keep up with it. The power to weight ratio would be hard to beat.
