"annoyance" and "self-righteousness", amoung others...
You'll want to reset the throttle adaptations. It'll wake it up.
Turn key to "on" position, don't turn it over. Press accelerator pedal and hold for a full 5 seconds. Keeping foot depressed, switch key to off position and then release your foot. Some do this as often as every week to keep the throttle from adapting at all. However immediately you should feel a difference as the ECU isn't making judgements based on the previous driver's driving style.
91 octane is what is required. Without a tune, 93 is probably a bit of a waste.
Run some techron (MB reqd) fuel injector cleaner through it unless you can fill up at a chevron station regularly.
If ever in a spirited mood and throttle hasn't been reset, you can tilt shifter to the left and it will downshift to the lowest gear possible. It will shift at redline.
With the 2.5L, you really need to rev the crap out of it to harness its full potential. It's geared rather poorly considering the lack of low end umph.

I think my fuel stations mainly have 87-89-93. Is 89 not recommended?

2006 C280 4Matic, 2011 E92 335i
Maybe I missed this but..
Why would you replace your 335i with a c-class?
Makes no sense honestly and no offense to the w203 ppl but I think people here would also agree with me
Compared to the 335, any c-class other than the AMG will feel lacking in many aspects. I've tried both the 350 and 280 engines and currently own 335i.

You can use 89. Use that until you find someone with STAR and have them bump up your timing to 93. Mine is set to 93 and I use 91....no problem at all.

If you use 87 the ECU will spend it's life retarding the timing when the knock sensor detects the onset of knock - not good for performance or gas mileage - but it won't harm the engine. Better to do as Karo says.
These cars have very moderate ECU tunes to protect the engine.
