W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES

I have a 2007 C230 Sport and I've decided on a set of AMG replicas that are 18x8.5 front with 35MM offset, and 18x9.5 rear with 38MM offset.
The tires recommended to me was this:
1) 225 - 40 - 18 front
2) 255 - 35 - 18 rear
Here's my question, one guy from a tire store told me the rear rim with 38MM offset will not be a good look, another guy told me 255 - 35 -18 may be a tight fit and cause "rubbing".
Can someone tell if these tires will fit and look right? Obviously I don't want the tires to look pushed beyond the fender or inward..
HELP!!

They work just fine and upgrading the the 18's upgraded my handilng and ride IMO. The 38ET in the rear fit perfectly and my rears have a 2.5 inch lip that looks great as well.

I'll try to list them in terms of easiest to more annoying ways of finding out:
Are you inflated properly?
32 fronts - 34 rears was what I was recommended as the General PSI for treadwear.
Rubbing?
Drive around. Go on some bumpy roads; carefully, and music off.
Alignment?
Find a flat parking lot, set the steering wheel straight, gas.
Are you going off to a side?
35$ at most shops to do a check.
Camber wear?
I'm not quite sure what this is, but from what I've read:
Does this have to do with taking off your entire wheel and checking for 'play'
Faulty Tire?
Contact manufacturer (annoying)
This has what I've done research into when my tire had irregular tread wear.
Good luck. When considering alignment jobs, consider the 140 dollar lifetime alignment offered by firestone. 140 dollars up front and you can take it back as much as you want.

ONly my right rear rubs on hard dips. Who ever I spoke to that have 19" they had the same issue.
Benz, BMW
Will this have to do with the gas tank as well? It makes the right rear sit more?
Thanks
if you look closely some W203's entire chassi is offset to either the right or left for some bogus reason. mine is offset to the driverside and I always have more rubbing issue on the right. mig888's car on the other hand is complete opposite.
it's just how they are. what you can do is trim the inside of the bumper/impact strip tabs.
jk062602kj had to do with a relationship and you know how that is.

Sort of like tatooing a girls name and lasering it off, just less painful

Initaials date and initaials again
Not doing the math - I would not be surprised if it would take you 4 years to break even and by then you might already have a different car.
For rears I would go with General Exclaim UHP (245/40/17): $105 at tirerack.
I have them on right now and am more than happy with them.
For comparison: I had Good Year Eagle F1's DS something, Michelins and Contis 3 before.
