Question Tires Advise, Please!

Hi Everyone!

I have the wheel package on my 2003 coupe. This is my first experience with high-performance tires. So, please have patience with me. So here are my questions: What is the correct pressure on the 225/45ZR 17? How offen should I check the tires pressure? What is the average replacment time for high-performance tires? And is it possible if I replace the 225 to a 235? Any advise would be great! Thank you

Anita

well the correct tire pressure is on the inside of your gas tank cover. if you open your gas tank, there should be a sticker telling you correct tire pressure. just make sure you take your tire pressure in the morning after you haven't driven on it or it's been sitting in the sun. those can increase tire pressure. tires should easily last 20,000-30,000 miles, but i can't be sure of that. and yea you can replace with a 235. i don't think you'll run into any problems.

C200 Kompressor AG
what brand of tires did your c-class originally come with?

Just got my C200 Kompressor Avantgarde yesterday. It came with a stock Dunlop Sport SP2020 225/50R16 tires.

Questions:
1) Did any of you get Dunlops with your C-Class? If not, what tires did you car come with?
2) Are these Dunlop tires OK? I would have wanted Michelins instead.

Just want to compare.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Mercedes C200K Coupe
Just bought a new tire for my Coupe...

well, my front left tire got ruined yesterday. So I had to change it. I couldn't find Michelin like what my car had, they said it wont arrive until after 37 days. So I had to buy this cheap Italian. (less than half the price)

btw it looks cool. though I'm sure there is a difference and thats why its cheaper.

The C180K Coupe I test drove had Michelins, but to my surprise (and joy) my Nov 02 built car arrived in Australia in January 03 with Pirelli P6000's fitted (205/55/16)

HR tires - good enough for the application (considering the speed limitation on CDN cars). The Continental HR tires that also come on the car don't have a very good reputation.

You must never use different tires on the same axle. While this one is still new, get a second one and replace your Michelin with it.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport.

Those Dunlops come on SLK's here in the US, but they don't come on C-coupes. I think they are pretty good tires. Just drive with them for a while, and if you don't like them, then get some Michelins.

a. The odd tire could be a different diameter even if the size marked on the sidewall are the same.

b. It has different traction and handling properties than the other tires. Like weaing a dress shoe on one foot and sneaker on the other.

Thats what I kept telling them. The front looks thicker than this one. but they say I'm imagining it!

I thought about that. And I think this new one has stronger grip. Do you think that will make the ESP go crazy?

No, ESP should be fine. But if the new tire grips better, just buy three more of them and forget the Michelins. But at least get another for the other side, especially since they are half the price.

See Garage
Cars outside the US are apparently delivered with different tires than those within the US. Here in the US, my car came with Pirelli P6. At that time, cars alternatively came with Goodyear RSA, or Continentals.

Bob, I'm surprised you had Pirelli P6's on there. I don't remember them being used in 2001. I thought they started appearing later.

Now, most of them I see are Michelins or Continentals. There are some Pirellis also, but I think they may have stopped using the Eagle RS-A.
