W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES
#2001
Sorry to bring this old thread but I understand that the Eagle F1's suck in cold temperatures... I live in the south (alabama), it gets really cold here but it hardly snows (like once or twice every year). Roads can get icey but not awfully bad. So how terrible according those characteristics the F1's will be? I am considering buying them because they are VERY cheap now in tirerack. My other 2 options are the Yokohama AVID V4S or the BF g-Sport (all of them cheaper than the F1's but I like the way they look... oh the vanity...)

Tire Rotation
Last week, I went to the serivce to have tire rotation,
and stupid enough I forgot I have different size tire.
they didn't do anything, just washed my car.
I have a 06 C230, stock wheel,
225/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear,
this is my first time driving a car with different size of tires btw front and back. they can't rotate my tires, so in the future, what should I do?

You have the benefit of a staggered setup which gives you a greater amount of grip in the back. So as has been mentioned, no front to back. However, if you are trying to get even wear, and one side has a problem, then you can go left to right. AS LONG AS IT IS NOT RAINING OR SNOWING.
Dry traction will be minorly affected. No fast turns etc. But it can help you to get a couple more miles out of the tires. I did this when I had a weird wearing problem that I was trying to track down.

2005 C230K Sport Sedan, 6 speed manual
The only way to rotate the tires on the MB Sport Sedans with staggered wheels is to dismount the tires from the rims and cross-rotate them. This is expensive, and IMO, not worth the effort.
Unfortunately, most of us are only getting about 20,000 miles out of the original equipment performance tires. The tires are high-speed rated and directional, so your options are few. Did I mention expensive?

I know the Michelin Pilot Sports are directional, but are the Michelin Pilot Primacys directional? I normally look for the arrow that points out the tire rotation direction to determine if it's directional and I don't see one on my Primacy tires.

Thanks.
i went to the service cause they said if I do the rotation before 6500,
there will have no charge for it. (FREE!!)
but anyway, when the time comes, I should just change all of them.
also i saved $10 for car wash!!

Tire BLEW!!!
So Today i was driving about 75 on the freeway, then all of a sudden KABBOOMMM!! Car started swirving back and fourth..my heart just stoppED! Luckily no car was behind me
so i pulled over to the side, found out it was the passenger rear. ok its about 108 degrees outside and my spare tire was under 150 pounds of weight form the subs and amp.... got everything out, jacked the car up with the *not stable sorry *** jack* that mb provided, All of a sudden the car rolled
Stupid me forgot to put the e-brake on!
Now the jack was stuck under the car.. 30 mins later a truck came and we dig the jack out. everythings fine now! heres some pixs
OK moral of the story is, remember to put your e-brake on when jacking the car up!!!

of course, you were under pressure, kinda like that guy that lost his oil cap and plugged the oil filler with his socks...at least you're fine now. I wonder what people were thinking when they saw you taking pictures with your car squatting like that

Oh my, I have had my own Vegas breakdown with a black car. I felt a lot like your sister.
I hope you never have a next time, but if you do......fold down the visor and call the number for roadside. 1 800 FOR MERCEDES ( 1 (800) 367-6372) If you have tele-aid, just push the button with the wrench.
They will send a trained tech with a truck full of tools and parts, and change your tire for free.

damn, is anything damaged? you can look on the bright side, atlease a tire was there instead of no tire. if i was going 75 and a tire popped i would be scared ****less. what was the cause of the flat? and i'm guessing you have a manual

All I can tell you is three letters bro, AAA.... Dont' even call MB Roadside assistance, they didn't even call me back after an hour.
I was in a hospital when I was 18 and the kid I shared a room with was in there because he was changing a flat tire on the freeway like you and a drunk hit the car and ran him over. I stay in my car, call AAA and wait 20 minutes. Had the same type of blowout, same rear left tire on New Years Day and AAA came pretty quick. The factory jack is useless.

Metro Card : (
correct me if i am wrong, but don't the restrictions of spare tires include, but not limited to, do not drive over 55 mph?
just a thought - maybe the speed was too much for the spare tire?
