Now, most of them I see are Michelins or Continentals. There are some Pirellis also, but I think they may have stopped using the Eagle RS-A.
My car was a May 3, 2001 delivery date, so it was near the end of the 2001 run. AFAIK, I'm the only C-sedan dude with the Pirelli P6's who has said so on this forum. I really like them, as they are quiet and wear well and evenly (knock on wood).

And yes, I haven't seen the Eagle RS-As on any sedans from 2002. But that's not a definitive answer. I paid more attention while my car was on order, wondering what tires I would get. I was surprised to see the Pirellis.

Yeah, I was praying to get the Michelin Pilot Sports instead of the Continentals. I got lucky.

My 2003 C320 4-Matic Wagon has Goodyear Eagle RS-A's. Appears to be a comfortable and quiet tire, it doesn't have huge amount of grip when cornering, but I think a good match to the car.

C230 Coupe 2002. Michelin Pilot Sport. They are awesome tires on dry surfaces but they are horrible on snow (and we had a lot here in the DC/VA/MD area last week)!!! I think I'm going to get winter tires next year

I got pilot sports on my C230.

i would just like to know why some cars of the same type and model come with different tires. who picks them?

not to long ago my dealer had 2 C32's right next to eachother and one had pilot sports and one had pirelli's.

theres gotta be some way they are picked? right?

My 2002 C320 sedan came with Michelin MXV4 Plus tires. Great on dry pavement; good on wet pavement; poor on ice and snow.

i think it depends on what the factory gets during the time. I think they only switch when they ran out of one or another.

Bob, I was wrong. We got in a C240 today and it had Goodyears. I would have to look around to see how many other cars have them. But I really did think they had stopped using these. Guess not.

Car manufacturers do not like to be tied down to a single supplier, so as not to be constrained if there is any hiccup in the supply with any particular vendor. Hence, they buy their tires from several suppliers. As we have seen, US-spec sedans in 2001 came with tires from one of three different OEM tire makers. The tires you get are pretty much luck of the draw... what tires came to the head of the line at the factory the day your car was built. At least they install five tires per car that match brand!

It's not unusual to see two cars parked next to each other on a dealer lot with different brand tires.

Someone in the C picture forum claims to have 275's on but you really can't tell from the picture.

I am running 245's. When I get new wheels, hopefully 17x9.5, I will be putting 265mm.

Yeah, I'm hoping to put 255's onto 8.5" wide rims.

Continental tire got a huge egg in sidewall

Im goin to see if the dealer will replace it, i havent hit anything and noticed this in the mornin.

These tires suck, they are almost fully worn on the sides after 6 k miles.

And i keep the correct pressure and dont drive hard.

I never have a problem with the clk and cheap kumo tires. but these are crap!

Good luck with that. Prestige wouldn't replace mine, as it's not a "real" warrantee issue.

Yes, the tires are crap. Get rid of them.

You don't drive hard? Don't make me do a search to find quotes of how you've driven your car so far!
