W203/CL203/S203 TIRE Discussion Thread - Every question on TIRES
Bob, I'm surprised you had Pirelli P6's on there. I don't remember them being used in 2001. I thought they started appearing later.
Now, most of them I see are Michelins or Continentals. There are some Pirellis also, but I think they may have stopped using the Eagle RS-A.
And yes, I haven't seen the Eagle RS-As on any sedans from 2002. But that's not a definitive answer. I paid more attention while my car was on order, wondering what tires I would get. I was surprised to see the Pirellis.

I've seen these on Porsche 911's

My car was a May 3, 2001 delivery date, so it was near the end of the 2001 run. AFAIK, I'm the only C-sedan dude with the Pirelli P6's who has said so on this forum. I really like them, as they are quiet and wear well and evenly (knock on wood).

i would just like to know why some cars of the same type and model come with different tires. who picks them?
not to long ago my dealer had 2 C32's right next to eachother and one had pilot sports and one had pirelli's.
theres gotta be some way they are picked? right?
I got pilot sports on my C230.

It's not unusual to see two cars parked next to each other on a dealer lot with different brand tires.
Car manufacturers do not like to be tied down to a single supplier, so as not to be constrained if there is any hiccup in the supply with any particular vendor
I am running 245's. When I get new wheels, hopefully 17x9.5, I will be putting 265mm.
These tires suck, they are almost fully worn on the sides after 6 k miles.
And i keep the correct pressure and dont drive hard.
I never have a problem with the clk and cheap kumo tires. but these are crap!
Im goin to see if the dealer will replace it, i havent hit anything and noticed this in the mornin.

Yes, the tires are crap. Get rid of them.
You don't drive hard? Don't make me do a search to find quotes of how you've driven your car so far!
