Pireli 7,000 super sport are ten times better than the Conti. They saved my *** the other day when some idiot lady was about to come into my lane and I beeped and she still continued then I hit the curb, and behold no damage. thank you Pireli

Question about tires...

Okay, lets make this topic short and easy to understand!

I already STUFFed and read a lot of threads. I still haven't got the answer that I want, I got more than what I need and had me lost!

So... I need good tires, don't make a lot of noise but provide a good grip to the road.

I always take hard corners and such things, so I do need something good, I guess. and I drive fast too. I heard continentals are limited to some speeds or something?

I was just looking at http://michelinman.com/assets/pdfs/doc_pilotsportas.pdf

that tire looks cool. but its michelin. meaning its expensive.

so what do u think is best for me?

and by the way... in that link, there are different sizes for the same wheel. how do i know which one for my car? Or is it possible to fit any of them as long its in the same "?

hope I get a reply this time and don't get ignored as usual

thanks a lot :p

what's your budget per tire...let us know that and we'll give you our opinions in order to totally confuse you.

It's also a good idea to visit the www.tirerack.com and read the reviews on each tire that's in your budget.

Each tires is rated on multiple aspects like, noise, grip, cornering, wet, dry and snow driving - etc...

I already went there. and believe me, I probably read each and every review in that site! LOL.

I still don't know which one is better for me.
thats why I came here!

I'm not sure whats my budget, but I guess I'll be getting the good tires that has resonable price.

If you don't know what your budget is, then you aren't ready to buy. It's one of the basics to protect yourself from getting ripped off.

Just got snow tires over last weekend

Hey everyone, nice to be back on online. I did not think I would this forum this much until it was temporarily gone.

Anyway, got snow tires over last weekend from Tire Rack (drove 100 miles to get there so they can do the install).

Ended up with Pirelli Snow Sport 210 (205/55/16-91H) on OEM 240 wheels that I got on ebay. So far it does feel a bit squishy compared to the pilot sports, but it improved my ride a bit, and I have been very happy with performance in dry and wet conditions.

I am not looking forward to snow and ice, but hopefully when it comes, I will be prepared.

Question all season tires Conitinental Exteme Sport

Does anyone have any experience with the continental extreme contact all season tire? I dont want to spend the money and beat my rims up by swapping out snow tires 2x a year so I am going to try an high performance all season, the Michelin Sport A/S is to expensive.

The ratings at TireRack show the Continental to be a pretty good tire. You can also try a Sumitomo HTR+

Cool

I got 'em. Just a couple weeks ago.
Check out the reviews on tirerack.com, and also the
comparo between them, Pirelli, and Michelins.
They are a deal. Main complaints were that they can at times get flat spots. I noticed it once, when it was fairly cold, for CA, and the rubber must've hardened from the cold. In a few miles everything was fine. They're not summer tires, but very good if you want a tire that lasts a while (Treadwear is rated 400!), looks cool, and costs little. They got like an 8.5 overall on tirerack.
Way ahead of the Conti's MB puts on the C7 wheels stock.
It rains a lot here, and I get very good wet traction. A predictable, although perhaps, less exciting tire than say
a A008R in the dry.

READ the sumo reviews.
Busted sidewalls galore.
Great on lighter cars, downright dangerous on heavier cars according to reviews on tirerack.
(I spent like a week reading reviews, and finally went with the
all season tires, since the rains have started and we get at least 30 inches a year out here on the coast)

Only downside on the Contis is slight tire noise around 70-80 mph. Not that bad. 1st time I heard it, it kinda freaked me out.
Kinda a resonance, likely different on different size tires.

Also they don't track all over the road like the Pilots that came on the car.

I am in the same boat as you are. I don't want to keep swapping tires, so I am definetly considering the ContiExtreme's. Like everyone else has said, they are solid all the way around and seem like a good value...I'm probably going to order some soon, because according to the owners manual, the stock Pilot Sports can't be driven in anything less than 45 degrees F.

The conti extremes are nice, very happy w/them. Don't know how they'll fare in snow yet but hoping for the best. Great in wet conditions, a little less responsive than the contisports that came on my C7s, don't hang on as long when pushed hard. I think I would go Pirelli M/S if I didn't need them to deal with much snow but after last winter I decided to go a bit more conservative. The Pirellis won hands down in the head to head test on tirerack and the survey numbers also suggest that. You won't go wrong with either but if you want to preserve as much handling as possible, go Pirelli.

If you did not have any issues last year, you probably don't need snows (you probably have all season tires?). My car came with summer tires and so I went ahead and got a set before it snowed.

I just got the Conti Extremes last week. Seem OK so far. I paid $95 each from Discount Tire. I was really disappointed in the Michelin Pilot Sports, not from performance but from lack of wear. They were bald at 20K miles, and I drive like an old lady. Mostly. I won't go back to Michelins again.

Tire Size question

I purchased a 2001 C-Class C320 and when I picked the car up from the dealer he had put new tires on for me. Continental 22/55R16 95H Ch95. I never though any thing of it until I bought Dunlop snow tires 225/55R16. I put them on and now I have a problem with the front tire rubbing the cup that the front spring fits into. I looked in the manual and it calls for a 205 tire. I didn't have a problem with the summer tires, but the winter tires are a problem in the front.
Am I going to have a problem with this snow tire, or can I get by until a little of the tread wears down?
I already have the Continentals to sell, if I have to buy a set of 205 snow tires I will have to try and sell them.
I checked the diamenter on the summer tires 25.7 and the winter tires are 26 inches.
What to do???

You should be using either a 205/55-16 or you can use a 225/50-16, but not a 225/55-16.

The Pilot Sports are max performance tires. Similar tires from all manufactures will be shot at 20,000. Since you drive conservatively, perhaps a touring type tire is in order for your needs.

I need a set of snows eventually too. With the larger brakes on the 2004.5 sport sedan, I know I need 17s (225-45-17). Any recommendations on snows for this size?
