Width is fine for the rims. The difference in diameter is 0.1%, which is perfect.

Mixing Tire Rating
Hi Guys!
Is it okay to mix tire rating? My friend got a C-230 with V-rated Michelin tires (tires used for 2 years) and he needs to replace one of them because it is defective (separated). However, he is selling his car soon so he is wondering if he could just replace them with a cheaper H-rated tire (same brand). Would it matter so much to have three 2-year-used V-rated tires with one new H-rated tire?
Thanks!

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for all the great help. It's almost time to get those new tires.. though I am thinking about waiting a bit longer (around summer) so I can get a set of 4 (versus just 2).
Does anyone have experience with the Michelin PS2s? I'm thinking about going with those if I get a new set since their rating at Tirerack.com is better than the OEM Pilot Sports.

I suggest you go to the TireRack forum, read all the sticky's and ask Luke if you have any specific questions - he is the resident tire guru here.

Hrm that sounds quiete early for a tire change, i can't really help out cuz i have the 16in rims with w/e michelins are on there. I regularly check tire pressure and everything, and they have been rotated about 3-4 month ago. I drive the car pretty hard, i do donuts, burnouts, buncha stuff that would eat the rubber up, but there is still plenty of tread on them and few wear. I can't believe that your tire pressure never changed, i check every 2 month n sometimes i have big psi drops.

i mean, in width,
since its the widest tire i can put ..... will it look like the sidewall is about to pop out?... kinda like a tire that needs more air pressure?

Tire size?
I have some BBS RS GT wheels that I am putting on my C230K Sedan. The wheels are 19x8.5 +38 and 19x9.5 +38. What size tires should I run? I am thinking for the front 235/35/19 and rear 245/35/19. What do you guys think? I bought the wheels w/ tires already. The tires are Bridgestones Potenza S-03, front 245/35/19 which I think is rubbing on the perch, rears are huge with 275/30/19. Thanks.

Rear tire size........Yes, I searched first
Went through about 20 threads and they were all focused more towards those going to an 18 or 19" rim and tire.
I was wondering if anyone has went a size or two wider on the rear while maintaing the 40 series sidewall. I'm already due for a new set of rears and would like to go a size or two wider, but I don't want the tire looking too tall compared to the front.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

Good for you.
Now, mathematically speaking; you should be able to go to a 255/40-17 on the rear without affected the workings of the ESP.
Here is a detailed tire size calculator dealing with more than just size. German only - Sorry

I have H&R springs. My friends and I tried to drive my car. The car would only roll for 2-3 inches and then something stops the car from rolling. We checked if the wheels are hitting something but to us there was nothing we can see. We are thinking that it might be the gear box that may be locked. But, I don't know. Got any ideas?

Check the lug nuts....Original lug nuts are much longer.
If you have the sport break caliper (esspecially on an 05 C230K), maybe your front rims didn't clear the caliper.
Check if your front tires are not rubbing against the shocks. It may clears the front spring perch but the width and offset of the rims may cause it to rub against the shock body.

Big 19" wheels may actually hurt performance.
Auto mags have had several articles noting how large wheels are heavier and actually lower overall performance/handling. 17-18" is proabably about as far as you should go.

Thanx. The one I linked goes into more depth than just size and speedo error. It gives a better understanding why MBs come with 245 rear when mathematically a 255 would be more appropriate which is what that miata site does.

255/40/17 would be fine...you won't rub even if you lowered the car. Any wider would look tacky. Get a rounded side wall instead of the square one....

This is what we did...
On the rear wheels: Put 10mm spacers to clear the shocks with 50mm lugs (knowing that the stock lugs are 40mm, we extended the lugs because of the 10mm spacer). Maybe the lugs are too long?
On the front wheels: Put 10mm spacers to clear the break calipers with 45mm lugs.
So, maybe I should replace the 50mm lugs to 45mm on the rear wheels? The front wheels should be fine then right? Because I do hear the noise from the rear right wheel. This is great information. Almost there.
