There are so many choices to choose from. My past experiences with TOyo and Nitto weren't that great. Nitto dont have grip like they advertise and over priced. Older Dunlop were disasterous especially the p9000, lemans. They get swallon and explodes, very dangerous! Bridgestone weren't that impressive either.
I am sure a lot of these brands have improve on their newer models but before you make your purchase i suggest Falken tiires in to one of your shopping lists. They have good performance acceptable road noise. Thread life is a bit short but with well maintainace and tire rotations should last above 2 years (you probably wanna change tires every 2 years anyway) and they aren't expensive compare to the performance that u getting.
But if you are rich and got lots of money get Micheline PS2 they are one of the best tires for the street. BUt very expensive.

I love Pilot Sports but they wear out too freaking fast!, If you don't mind change the rear sets every 30K miles, and the front set every 50K miles, then go with Pilot Sports.
MICHELIN PS2's are suppose to be great tires, but I couldn't afford them, I went with P-Zero Nero M+S (All Seasons), they are great tires for the price and they last a lot longer than the original Pilot Sports. I would recommend them.

If I were driving a car with a fart-can muffler, the KDW2's would be fine (you'd never hear the tires), but on a stock Benz it gets annoying very quickly. I'll be replacing mine (after 30k+ miles) this week with a set of Michelins.

In all of my previous cars I've had Pirelli P-Zeros and PS2's. PS2's are far superior in every way except price. When I replace the tires on my car I'll probably try the ContiSportContact 2's or the Eagle F1 GS-D3's.

Your first step should be to go to Tirerack, and see what options there are, and what fits in your budget. Without any real info from you on what you want and your budget, all of these recommendations don't cout for diddly.
For the record, I've had PS2s, and currently have Yoko Advan Neova AD07s (stock tire on Elises) - like the AD07s MUCH better, though the sizes are limited, and they're expensive.
As suggested, Falkens might be a decent tire to try (at least the FK-452s) for the money. Vulcan Tire consistently has good prices on Falkens.

I just got a set of KDW2's this week and they don't seem noisy at all. I've been very happy with them so far, though the sidewall is alot wider than I was hoping for. I guess I was spoiled by the design of my Falkens.

- I'm gonna go for 235/255 - as was originally on the LMs... the Toyo's I've got on feel skitzy taking the only hard left turn I have on my way home from work plus, as others have mentioned, Toyo's don't seem like they're protecting LM lip very well.

I did find the tires to be quiet, and traction was very good to me. Dry was nice, wet was remarkable. Snow traction is horrible with even a light dusting, so be careful Also, the tires don't make a whole lot of noise as they start to slide on high speed turns and the like, which gets kinda eerie, but once you stop expecting the noise, they hold as well as you'll probably want.
Plus, it's kinda fun to run tires no one else does.

I've been running Dunlop Sport Maxx's for a few years now. I like them a lot. I just replaced the rear (I have staggered wheels with directional tires, so no rotating for me). I didn't monitor tread life very accurately (not sure how many of the miles were on summer vs. winter tires), but I think I got about 20k miles on the rear tires, which includes an unnecessarily healthy bit of wear from sliding the rear for fun. I also didn't have my rear camber kit installed for that set, so wear was uneven and a bit faster than I expect now. I will actually keep track of the tread life with this set.
I did find the tires to be quiet, and traction was very good to me. Dry was nice, wet was remarkable. I've been agonizing this choice lately.
I've had Pilot Sports (OE), which were probably ok, but
with the stock suspension, a total waste, and were well worn by the time I put new springs and sways.
Conti Exteme Contacts (all weather, ok but noisy and price like doubled, so no more)
Fuzion ZR1 (from Bridgestone)- Start out quiet, get a little noisy, but stick well both in dry and rain. Stiff sidewalls, means good handling, and protects the rims in case of flat or getting too close to a curb, 20K miles or so
and a really good deal price wise right now on tirerack.
But stiff sidewall also means a stiff ride...
General Exclaims- Rated #1 on tire rack...supposedly ride good, but that because of soft sidewalls. The Fuzions could kick their butt.
Also very inexpensive on tirerack, with longer than average wear, which means lower than average grip. OK for freeway, and commute, not good for fast mountain driving. The #1 rating is a result of the tire being a loss leader.
Whne Fuzions came out they were #1 till the price went up, now it's back down again.
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2- Came on a set of wheels I bought.
Kicks *** on all others, but sticky, and i'm getting wear on the sidewall, but maybe due to alignment issue. About $1000 for a set installed....
I'd buy these if I could...but money's tight...
so as much as I hate the freakin' Generals, I have 2 for the front already, a
which means, I can get 2 for the rear and be on the road with good rubber on all 4 for about $200 for the rear + about 40 to transfer the General's from old tires to new...
arrgh.
I wrote a review on the general's on Tirerack and rated them Zero to try to drag the score down to a more realistic level...
The majority of people on tirerack who write reviews don't have much experience to draw on and drive like old ladies.
Try sorting from the worst to good. Read the bad reviews. They're written by people with a clue. But in the end, EVERY tire has a bad review.
Some people HATED PS2's. A complete waste of money, other people say the cheapest tires are the best, like the Sumi's, General's and Fuzions.
It really depends what you want, performance? Ride?
What kind of weather?
And how much money you got.
I'm in Cali for snow isn't an issue.
Rain is though.
For the money, I still say the Fuzion's are the best all around. Full set offset for about 390 delivered. Michelins, about 900+ install.
Generals are slow to steer in and make our already understeering vehicles understeer even more.
Dunlops or bridegstone 050's about 600 delivered, 700 installed.
It's not an easy choice. How much bread you got?
If you don't drive hard, want a longer lasting tire for less money you might like the General's.
Here in Cali, we have grooved pavement, and the most irritating thing about certain tires is "trammeling", which is when the tire follows the grooves.
REALLY freakin' irritating, the car jumping all over the road. Tires like the PS2's with straight ahead tread do well, as did the fuzions.
Yoko 100's with the funky tread patterns tend to pull...as did
P Zero Nero's for another members.
I'd be worried about those BFG's based on the shape of the tread.
The Generals jumps all over at first, but calmed down once the tread wore a little.
Oh geez...might just have to break down and buy the damn PS2's.
Pisses me off.
Maybe just get the 2 generals till money starts rolling in, temporary solution. They actually have a treadwear guarantee I think...

With that being said, I have the OEM ContiSportContact's on my M3 and they're just about done after only 10,000 miles. I have the GS-D3's on the w203 and they're still pretty good well after 10,000 miles and I think that they perform just as good or even better than the Conti's and perform MUCH better in the rain than the Conti's and they're also cheaper.
But, after reading a bunch of reviews and talking to people, I'm going to go with the Bridgestone RE050A PP's or the RE-01's on my M3 in a bit...
